        What We Look For

        The School of Accountancy Admissions Committee takes a holistic approach when reviewing applications. Preferred credentials for MAcc enrollment include:

        • Impeccable character and reputation
        • Competitive quantitative credentials
        • Quality and relevant internship experience
        • Applicants from AACSB-accredited programs

        Applications are accepted for summer and fall enrollment. We strongly recommend you enroll for the summer semester; this way, you’ll have time to complete any necessary prerequisites that are tested on the CPA Exam during the final spring semester of the program. 

        Prerequisites

        To apply for the Master of Accountancy (MAcc) program, you must first

        • Hold a four-year undergraduate degree from an accredited U.S. institution 
        • Have completed the Business and Accounting Foundation prerequisites (see below)

          • Business Analytics II

          • Cost Accounting
          • Accounting Information Systems
          • Accounting Analytics *

          • Income Tax I
          • Income Tax II *+
          • Advanced Business Law *+
          • Governmental and Not-for-Profit Accounting *+

           

          * Required for Auburn Applicants
          + Non-Auburn applicants must have taken at least one of these courses at the undergraduate level

        How to Apply

        Application Materials Due:

        • Complete and submit the online Graduate School Application ($60 fee for domestic applicants), which requires
          • A one-page résumé that reflects past activities/employment AND your prospective spring or summer internship
          • A one-page, double-spaced statement of purpose describing why you should be admitted to the Auburn University Master of Accountancy program
          • The names and contact information for three references—two must be former accounting professors who hold a PhD, and the third may be from a professor, former employer, etc.
          • Unofficial transcripts from every institution attended*
          • Official GMAT score (waiver offered to those students with a 3.5 GPA from AACSB-accredited institutions)
        • International candidates who have completed the undergraduate accounting prerequisites at a U.S. institution but do not hold a U.S. degree must submit a TOEFL score with his or her application

        *Official transcripts will be required prior to registration if you are accepted into the Master of Accountancy program.

        When to Apply:

        • Early Acceptance - October 1
        • Round 1- December 1 (deadline for guaranteed consideration for graduate assistantship positions)
        • Round 2 - February 1 (deadline for scholarship consideration)
        • Final Round - April 1 (only if seats remain)

        Selection Process

        If you are invited to the next round, you will be required to interview with the MAcc Program Administration. Admissions decisions are announced approximately one month after each deadline.

        Enrollment Deadlines:

        Accepted applicants must submit their enrollment confirmation by the following dates.

        • Early Acceptance - December 1
        • Round 1 - February 1
        • Round 2 - March 1
        • Final Round - April 15
