"Building A Better World: Women and Climate Justice" Conference Call for Posters
Agnes Scott College’s second annual Women’s Global Leadership Conference (WGLC) will take place from September 23-September 25, 2021. This year's theme is "Building A Better World: Women and Climate Justice." The conference will create the opportunity for internationally recognized scholars, community activists, political leaders, and private sector experts to engage in intentional conversations, form innovative partnerships for addressing climate injustice, and develop creative strategies for building more resilient communities.

Women frequently bear the brunt of the social violence, political instability, and environmental degradation caused by climate change, and at the same time, they are also important change agents in the transition to a more sustainable and just future. With the “Building a Better World” conference Agnes Scott combines its strong commitment to sustainability and its innovative SUMMIT global learning and leadership experience to address the full range of climate-justice experiences of women and other marginalized identities.

The 2021 conference will feature a student showcase highlighting completed and in progress research by Georgia college students, including graduate students, and Atlanta-area high school students (grades 9-12). The student showcase will span two days. The Thursday, September 23 showcase will take place from 11:30am - 1:30pm and will be in person on Agnes Scott College's campus. Presenters will be assigned to a 30 to 45-minute session when they will share their research with conference participants. On Friday, September 24, 2021 from 12-1pm, the conference will stream virtual/digital presentations from students who did not participate in the Thursday in-person session. However, ALL students will have the opportunity to create a virtual presentation of their research, which will be made available to the attendees via the conference website. **Due to the ongoing global pandemic, the Thursday in-person showcase and the entire conference may take place in a virtual format. Participants will be notified of the confirmed format by August 23, 2021.**

We invite submissions for individual and group student poster sessions that relate to climate justice, climate change, sustainability, grassroots climate activism, health and the environment, and/or other related themes.  Research from and/or addressing women and/or other marginalized communities is strongly encouraged.
