Mandatory financial disclosures filed with the Clerk of the U.S. House of Representatives reveal Democratic Congressman Vicente Gonzalez has held a 6 figure bank account with the Bank of China for the last three years.

Records from 2017, 2018 and 2019 show Gonzalez' bank account held between 100,000 and 250,000 dollars and also that he earned between 2500 and 5,000 dollars in interest for each of the three years.

"He should be investing his money in an American bank, putting Americans first and American communities first," said Congressional Candidate, Monica De La Cruz-Hernandez.

Despite the 3 U.S. locations, the Bank of China website lays out it's mission to "adhere to the guidance of Xi Jinping thought on Socialism."

"This is shocking and disturbing that a U.S. Representative would have his money tied with a China bank; our greatest adversary," De La Cruz-Hernandez said.

Gonzalez' Republican opponent, Monica De La Cruz-Hernandez, who lost the last election for the Texas District 15 Congressional seat is already campaigning to run against him in 2022.

She said it was both shocking and disturbing that Gonzalez would put his money in a bank that could potentially benefit China.

"All banks profit from having monies in their banks, whether it's in a checking or savings account," De La Cruz-Hernandez said. "They're able to use that money to loan to other people."

Gonzalez did not agree to an interview, but his Communications Director, Jason Johnson sent this statement:

"This was an American based, FDIC insured account that no longer exists. Congressman Gonzalez has fully complied with disclosure requirements for this investment. Congressman Gonzalez is focused on delivering relief for Texas families and small businesses who have suffered through this pandemic."
