Winkler, Beatrice Chaikind Ross, age 98, passed away peacefully at the home of Kenneth L. and Donna Cohen Ross January 14, 2023, beloved wife of the late Dr. Henry R. Winkler, devoted mother of Richard (Barbara) Ross, Robert (Louise) Ross and Kenneth (Donna Cohen) Ross, step-mother of Allan (Sara Penhale) Winkler and Karen (David) Moulton , loving grandmother of 6 and great-grandmother of 10. Beatrice was a deeply engaged and dynamic partner during the years Dr. Winkler served as president of the University of Cincinnati. Bea also carved out her own role, helping establish Friends of Women’s Studies at the University of Cincinnati, founding and then chairing Friends of Judaic Studies for 25 years, and making many other vital contributions to the cultural life of Cincinnati. A dedicated member of the Jewish community, Bea was active in the congregation at Wise Temple and was a Life Member of the Wise Temple Sisterhood. Services Weil Kahn Funeral Home, 8350 Cornell Rd, Cincinnati, OH 45249 on Thursday, January 19, 12:00 Noon. Visitation begins at 11:30. The service will be Live Streamed on the Weil Kahn website. In lieu of flowers, gifts to the HENRY R. WINKLER CENTER FOR THE HISTORY OF THE HEALTH PROFESSIONS at the University of Cincinnati would be greatly appreciated.
