The Grow Your Own (GYO) Team invests in aspiring teachers! We care so much that we’re breaking the barriers that keep aspiring teachers from achieving their dreams of becoming a certified teacher in HISD.

The GYO Team is hosting its first University to Teacher Pipeline Fair on Saturday, March 2, 2024, 8:30am – 12:00pm at Hattie Mae White (4400 W. 18th st, Houston, TX, 77092).

Our vision for this event is threefold:

Equip aspiring teachers with knowledge about the various certification pathways
Increase exposure of our current GYO scholarship opportunities to eligible candidates
Connect HISD employees who aspire to become certified teachers with the “best fit” university program that meets their needs
