How to Apply

The Field Foundation makes grants in the following ways:

• A Road Together (ART). Through our ART partnership with the MacArthur Foundation, we accept annual applications for general operating funding (including 3-year and 1-year funding lanes) for small and mid-sized arts and culture organizations committed to equity in Chicago. We accept ART grant applications from mid-April through mid-May. Grants are awarded in the Fall.

• Justice and Journalism & Storytelling. In October 2023, we moved from a Letter of Inquiry application process three times each year to a more streamlined grantmaking process that allow us to consider funding needs on a rolling basis. We accept grant applications on a rolling basis and award grants on a rolling basis.

• Leadership Investment. In partnership with the MacArthur Foundation, our annual Leaders for a New Chicago Award recognizes ten individuals whose leadership will inform decision-making throughout Chicago. Our Leaders nomination portal opens in early February and closes in early March. We announce the Leaders for a New Chicago in the Spring.
