Biography

2023: Started all 18 games... Program record 71 points and 42 goals... Second in program history with 29 assists, just shy of her own record... Five game-winning goals... 11 ground balls, five caused turnovers and five draw controls... Career-high eight points against Elon (3/12) which tied the program record... Recorded a goal in 17 games with multiple in 12... Had three-plus assists four times... Third in the AAC in assists per game (1.61) and fourth in points per game (3.94)... Had five-plus points eight times... One-time AAC Player of the Week and five-time honor roll... First-Team All-AAC honoree... IWLCA All-Region honoree... Made Dean's List in the Spring semester... Named Female Athlete of the Year at the 2024 Goldspys.

2022: Started all 18 games... Led the team with 59 points on 27 goals and 32 assists... Program single-season record for points and assists... Fifth most single-season goals in program history... Collected 18 ground balls and one draw control... Caused seven turnovers... Recorded seven points on three goals and four assists against Winthrop (2/18), the second most assists and third most points in a single game in program history... 2021: Started all 16 games…Named AAC All-Conference Second-Team after finishing fourth on the team with 36 points on 24 goals and 12 assists…Also added 21 draw controls, 13 ground balls and three caused turnovers…Shot 8-of-14 from the eight-meter arc…Named to the AAC Weekly Honor Roll on March 29 after recording seven points in a pair of games against Vanderbilt, including a career-high four goals and an assist in the series opener (3/26)…Recorded at least one point in all 16 games and tallied multiple points in nine of the final 13 contests…Along with her four goals against Vanderbilt, tallied hat tricks against Campbell (2/24) and at Temple (4/16)…Had four draw controls against Furman (2/12), Virginia (2/15) and Old Dominion (3/21)…Set a new personal-best with three assists against both Jacksonville (3/6) and Cincinnati (4/23)…Named to the AAC All-Academic Team.

2020: Started all eight games before the season was ended due to the Covid-19 Pandemic…Finished second on the team with 18 draw controls and tied for third with 11 ground balls…Had eight points on six goals and two assists…Recorded an assist, caused turnover, two ground balls and two draw controls in her collegiate debut at Furman (Feb. 7)…Scooped up a career-high three ground balls in ECU’s home-opener win over Wofford (Feb. 15)…Contributed all over the field in ECU’s win at Campbell (Feb. 22), scoring a goal and adding an assist while also corralling four draw controls and two ground balls…Finished the season on a five-game streak with at least one goal, starting in the win over Campbell…Had a career-high two goals against Army (March 7)…Tied her career-high with four draw controls while also scoring a goal against VCU (March 1)…ECU’s matchup with No. 18 Duke (March 10) was the first against Kimel’s mother, Kerstin, who is the head coach of the Blue Devils…Kimel had a goal, three draw controls, a ground ball and a caused turnover against her mother’s squad...Named to the AAC All-Academic Team.

High School: Lettered for four years at Cardinal Gibbons High School under Patricia Alexander…Finished her prep career with four state championships, winning in each season she played at Cardinal Gibbons…Racked up 281 points on 113 goals and 168 assists to go along with 137 ground balls…Set new career-highs in goals (49), assists (59) and ground balls (52) during her senior campaign as she was both the State Championship MVP and Team MVP…She also earned the NCHSSAA Sportsmanship Award as well as being named Cap 7 All-Conference and HSOT All-East Team after her senior season…Was a Pac 6 All-Conference and All-Metro Team member after her junior season and earned the Coaches Award…Was the 2017 Offensive MVP, a Pac 6 All-Conference selection and made the North Carolina team…Earned the All-Crusader Award following her debut season.
