The Foothills Food Bank has been serving the Unincorporated East Whatcom Community since 1986. In 2020, the Food Bank relocated to its permanent home in building 2 of the East Whatcom Regional Resource Center campus. Our mission is to distribute quality, nutritious food to community members in need, and deliver services with respect and dignity. We offer an in-person, grocery-style shopping experience where individuals and families have access to fresh and frozen produce, dairy products, meat, proteins, canned and dry goods, and bread. The week of Thanksgiving tends to be our busiest of the year; we’re expecting to serve around 300 families. We need help packing Thanksgiving boxes and stockings to prepare for our distribution the following day.

There is a high need for volunteers on Tuesday, November 23rd.

 Thanksgiving Box distribution and Foothills Food Bank tour

Participants will be helping us with our annual Thanksgiving distribution! Our clients will have the opportunity to shop as usual, but they will also be receiving a pre-packed box full of Thanksgiving essentials. We will need help with replenishing shelves, distributing Thanksgiving boxes, and assisting clients as needed (reaching for items from shelves, helping load their items into their vehicles, returning carts to the distribution area). 

​When: Tuesday, November 23rd, Half-day event with volunteer time slots available from 8:00 am - 12:00 pm. A tour will be offered at 12:00 pm of our new state-of-the-art facility within the East Whatcom Regional Resource Center.

Where: Foothills Food Bank at East Whatcom Regional Resource Center 8255 Kendall Rd, Maple Falls WA (Enter "East Whatcom Regional Resource Center" in Google maps). Note that it is about a 60 minute drive up beautiful Mt. Baker Highway.

What to bring: Masks required and we recommend dressing for the weather, as temperatures can be a bit lower here in East County.

Covid Requirements: Masks are required. Volunteers/participants will also need to sign in and verify they haven't been experiencing any symptoms or if they/a household member had a positive test in the last 14 days.
