Community, Volunteer & Employee Awards Nominations

The Arc Montgomery County honors our community partners, volunteers and employees each year at our Community, Volunteer & Employee Awards ceremony. The people and/or groups we honor provide many hours of support, dedication, leadership, and above all, a strong commitment to connecting people of all ages and abilities with their communities to build inclusive and fulfilling lives. This year’s awards represent service provided from July 2023 to April 2024.

Please see below for award categories and nominate your community partners, co-workers, support employees, volunteers and/or community advocates. Submit one form for each nomination, with an accompanying description of why the person should be recognized, by no later than 5 pm on Wednesday, May 1, 2024. Please only submit only one award at a time.

Community Volunteer Award Category

Community Inclusion Award: Presented to a person or community group that has clearly demonstrated a strong commitment to connecting people of all ages and abilities with their communities to build inclusive and fulfilling lives.

Self-Advocate of the Year: Presented to a person with intellectual and developmental disabilities who resides in Montgomery County who has attained a personal achievement or demonstrated a contribution to the community.

Community Partner of the Year: Presented to a community partner organization or business who has made a significant contribution to supporting The Arc Montgomery County’s mission.

Volunteer of the Year: Presented to volunteers who have exhibited exceptional commitment and volunteer efforts on behalf of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Board Member of the Year: Presented to a member of The Arc Montgomery County Board of Directors who has exhibited exceptional commitment and volunteer efforts on behalf of people with disabilities.

Employee of the Year-Direct Support Children & Youth Services: Presented to a Direct Support Professional whose behavior brings to life The Arc Montgomery County’s mission of building inclusive communities, who has consistently gone above and beyond the expectations of their job description and who has demonstrated outstanding work on behalf of the organization, its employees and the people we support.

Employee of the Year-Direct Support Inclusive Living Services: Presented to a Direct Support Professional whose behavior brings to life The Arc Montgomery County’s mission of building inclusive communities, who has consistently gone above and beyond the expectations of their job description and who has demonstrated outstanding work on behalf of the organization, its employees and the people we support.

Employee of the Year-Direct Support Employment & Meaningful Day Services: Presented to a Direct Support Professional whose behavior brings to life The Arc Montgomery County’s mission of building inclusive communities, who has consistently gone above and beyond the expectations of their job description and who has demonstrated outstanding work on behalf of the organization, its employees and the people we support.

Employee of the Year-Direct Support Personal Supports: Presented to a Direct Support Professional whose behavior brings to life The Arc Montgomery County’s mission of building inclusive communities, who has consistently gone above and beyond the expectations of their job description and who has demonstrated outstanding work on behalf of the organization, its employees and the people we support.

Employee of the Year-Administration/Management: Presented to an administrative/management employee whose behavior brings to life The Arc Montgomery County’s mission of building inclusive communities, who has consistently gone above and beyond the expectations of their job description and who has demonstrated outstanding work on behalf of the organization, its employees and the people we support.

Rising Star Award: Presented to a person in their first year of employment, who has gone above and beyond the expectations of their job description and has demonstrated outstanding work on behalf of the organization, its employees and the people we support.

Distinguished Service Award: Presented to an employee who exemplifies professionalism at its highest level over an extended time period. This person shows qualities of leadership which significantly contribute to the field, demonstrates the organization’s mission, and sets a standard for others to follow.
