The College of Education and Integrative Studies (CEIS) is a unique     college at CPP because social justice is at its core. The Social Justice and Action Committee (formerly Social Justice Advisory Board [SJAB]) is our all-college committee of students, faculty, and staff who together plan events and activities centering social justice scholarship, community actions, and education about social justice issues.

The Social Justice and Committee has four subcommittees:

• Event Series
• Curriculum
• Community Engagement, Action, and Advocacy Partnerships
• Website

We invite CEIS students in all departments to apply to serve as student members of these subcommittees.

Participating as a student member in this committee has lots of advantages for you, including:

• Developing professional relationships with professors and staff for future letters of recommendations;
• Building essential workplace skills (collaboration, teamwork, project planning and implementation, communication, creativity);
• Adding the committee to your resumé to highlight your professional skills and commitment to social justice.

We understand the demands on students and are willing to work with you to have your talents on your team.

Student members will be expected to:

• Attend 2-3 committee meetings per semester (usually on Fridays);
• Choose a subcommittee you would like to be part of and attend the meetings;
• Provide critical and unique student perspectives for CEIS events and programming;

• Communicate student concerns and lived experiences with staff and faculty at the all-college level;

• Participate in SJAC events and activities, when possible;
• Share CEIS students’ collective perspectives and experiences to the committee.
