FDA Reform

The Issue

The importance of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s mission cannot be overstated. Consumers rely on the FDA to ensure that safe, high-quality products are available every day in the marketplace. The agency’s proposed changes to its structure and governance are a positive step in the right direction and Consumer Brands will continue working with the FDA to ensure its reviews and policymaking processes are brought up to date.

The Work Continues

The Consumer Brands Association believes the FDA can — and must — move at the speed of the consumer using a modernized regulatory system paired with the agency’s new, fully empowered deputy director for foods to better provide for consumer safety and keep pace with rapidly evolving consumer preferences and growing opportunities to introduce innovative products to the marketplace.

“We are pleased by FDA’s announcement of Jim Jones as the newly appointed Deputy Commissioner for Human Foods. Jones embodies the management qualifications the industry and stakeholders have been asking for to ensure FDA can properly deliver on its mission of protecting consumer health and safety.”
