2023-24 CCHA Schedule Announced

The Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) announced its 104-game schedule, which includes 16 non-conference contests between the eight full-member institutions and newcomer Augustana University. Following the 26-game conference slate, the regular season champion will once again be awarded the prestigious MacNaughton Cup, recognized as the premiere conference trophy in collegiate hockey.

The first tilt between CCHA teams takes place on Oct. 14, when Bowling Green visits Augustana University for weekend series in Sioux Falls, S.D.

Each of the full-member institutions will play two games, either home or away, with Augustana this season, with the reverse trips taking place next year. The Vikings are set to play a full CCHA schedule in 2025-26.

CCHA conference action begins Friday, Oct. 27 when Ferris State and Northern Michigan opens a two-game series in Marquette, Mich., and St. Thomas visits Bemidji State for a pair.

As both the defending regular season and playoff champions, Minnesota State University will begin its third campaign in the CCHA at Ferris State on Nov. 10-11.

That same weekend is the first of the year in which eight CCHA teams meet. Lake Superior State heads to Northern Michigan, St. Thomas visits Bowling Green and Michigan Tech battles Bemidji State on top of the Mavericks and Bulldogs meeting in Big Rapids, Mich.
 
Michigan Technological University welcomes Minnesota State (Feb. 9-10) for the Huskies’ famed Winter Carnival weekend, the annual celebration that takes place every winter in Houghton, Mich. 
 
The CCHA regular season will come to a close on Mar. 2 with the team earning the most points being awarded the prestigious MacNaughton Cup.
 
The top four teams following regular-season action will host the opening round of the CCHA Playoffs March 8-10 with the winner of each best-of-three series advancing to the league semifinals. For the third consecutive year, both semifinals (Mar. 16) and final (TBA) will be played as a single game at the respective campus sites of the highest-seeded team. The famed Mason Cup will be presented to the CCHA playoff champions, who will receive an automatic qualification to the 16-team NCAA Tournament. 
 
The NCAA Tournament opens play March 28-31 with regional sites in Maryland Heights, Mo., Providence, R.I., Sioux Falls, S.D. and Springfield, Mass. 
 
The 2024 Frozen Four is set to take place at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minn., on April 11 & 13.
