Homes For Our Troops, a national nonprofit organization, will break ground for a new specially-adapted custom home for local veteran Joseph “Blake” DeLoach.

Army Staff Sergeant DeLoach was injured while serving in Afghanistan in 2010 during his second deployment. He lost his eyesight from the blast of a rocket propelled grenade.

Home For Our Troops will kick off the event on Saturday at the Cornerstone Fellowship located on 104th Avenue N. and Orange Blvd.

The specialized home will feature more than 40 major special adaptations such as widened doorways for wheelchair access, a roll-in shower, and kitchen amenities that include pull-down shelving and lowered countertops.
