Frequently Asked Questions
These frequently asked questions are for non-employed and non-foundation licensed independent practitioners at our Providence family of organizations.

What is the Providence Provider Survey?
Our providers are critical partners in building the future of our organizations. This survey is an important tool we’re using to help us better understand how we can help improve our providers’ work environment and enhance the quality of care provided to patients. The survey will be focused on the providers’ relationship to the hospitals.

What’s different this year?
This is the first time medical staff, employed, and foundation providers across our family of organizations will be taking a unified survey at the same time and through a single vendor, Press Ganey. Providers that are both employed/foundation and also provide care in our hospitals may receive a hybrid survey with questions related to both the medical group and hospital.

Who takes the Provider Survey?
Any non-employed, non-foundation, licensed independent practitioner with 100+ encounters per year may be selected to receive the survey from Press Ganey. Please note residents and fellows are excluded from the survey.

When and how will the survey be conducted?
The survey will be open from Sept. 19 – Oct. 31. A link to the online survey will be sent to providers’ email addresses from ProviderSurvey@surveys.pressganey.com. Each provider will receive a unique link, so please do not forward your link to others.

What are the question topics?
Engagement index, Alignment index, Hospital leadership, Communication, Quality, Hospital Staffing/Resources, Teamwork, Resilience/Burnout, Safety Attitudes, Diversity Items, Net Promoter Score, Demographics, and Open-Ended Comments.

What about caregivers?
Caregivers will take a separate survey administered by Willis Towers Watson that runs Oct. 5-19.

Will anyone receive both the provider and caregiver survey?
Providers are NOT invited to the Caregiver Experience Survey facilitated by Willis Towers Watson. However, for 2022, ALL Nurse Practitioners will receive the Provider Survey and SOME may also receive a portion of the Caregiver Experience Survey intended for facilities seeking Magnet recognition.

I haven’t received an email invitation to take the survey. What should I do?
Press Ganey, our survey vendor, will distribute survey invitations in batches, so providers may receive the survey at different times on Sept. 19. If you do not receive a survey invitation on Sept. 19 and believe you should have received one, please contact Shannon Silva.

What if I deleted the email from Press Ganey that included my link to the survey?
If you deleted the email from Press Ganey that contained your link to the survey, you may simply wait for the next reminder. Or, you may click here and enter your NPI number.

Can the survey be taken on my mobile device?
Yes, the survey can be taken on a desktop or mobile device by following the direct link in the email or by clicking here and entering your NPI number.

How long will the survey take to complete?
Depending on the version of the survey you receive, it should take between 10-15 minutes.

Who will have access to the individual responses? Are the responses confidential?
We take the confidentiality of the survey responses very seriously. We follow best practices to ensure the confidentiality of the responses are never compromised, including accidentally. Individual responses are never reported. Responses are only reported at the hospital and/or regional level.

What does the organization do with the information collected in the Provider Survey?
We are committed to making our organization a best-in-class place to practice medicine for physicians and providers. Leaders across our organization and in your region will receive survey results. The insights gained from the survey will be used to help us understand how we can improve your work environment that reflects our Mission and values, while enhancing the quality of care provided to patients.

I hold more than one position. How should I respond to the survey questions? If you hold two or more positions, please respond to survey questions about your primary position, the one in which you work the most hours.

I took this survey last year. Should I still participate in the 2022 Press Ganey survey?
Yes, we encourage all providers to participate in the Press Ganey survey as it helps capture the broader provider voice for our organization and is referenced within developing operational strategies for the coming year.

What if I have additional questions?
