It’s just not going anywhere. One step forward 4 steps back. And the couple chemistry just isn’t enough to push it over the line for me.
I’m really sorry. Abigails story’s was great but these books fell short for me
After the first book I was dying to read this one, I needed to get my hands on it ASAP. Right from that first page I was hooked, I didn’t want to do anything but live in this world with these characters. This book made me scream, it made me cry, it tore me apart and it warmed my heart. This book is one of my top reads for 2020, no doubt about it.
These characters burned through the pages. The chemistry between Story and Gray was doing major heat damage to my kindle. Holy heck! I was about to put it my freezer to cool it down! I freaking loved it! I loved how emotional I was towards all the characters, I wanted to hug them, slap them, leave them out in the cold..GAHHH, I love it when a book can make me feel this way.
The author writes in such a way that we are completely transfixed. You can not put this story down for anything. The words create a world so vivid that you feel like you are part of it. I am in awe of this book, and also the one before it. I just love them so much.
I CAN’T BELIEVE I ALREADY DEMOLISHED FORBIDDEN FATE!
I cannot put into words how anxious I was reading this. The continuation of Story and Gray’s books was one hell of a ride. Mary’s writing is something I’ve been craving in romance books for the longest time. I think her writing is so unique and that’s what I love most about her.
Story was such a good heroine in this book, although there were some things she did that weren’t really heroic I understood where she was coming from. She’s just a broken soul who is in love with someone she can’t have.
And Gray, omg he was just everything in this book. This book just expanded my love for him because at times you got to really see who he was behind his mask. He was so different to “Grayson Crowne” because he was just Gray.
Also thank you so much for an early copy. I am so grateful I had the opportunity to read and review this book.

Tellement indécise, toutes ses décisions étaient contradictoire, par contre la fin m’a laissé sans voix. Leur amour résistera t’il à West Du Lac et au grand père maléfique ?
J’ai tellement hâte de lire le dernier tome

That being said this book truly broke me. But he also captivated me, consumed me, made me fall in love all over again with this story. Story and Gray’s journey is not an easy one, the end of the last book was the first push in a series of dominoes that came all tumbling down in this one. Dreams were shattered, promises were broken, love was questioned. There was so much conflict, betrayal, loss, misunderstandings, miscommunication, bad timing...
However all of this made both characters grow into who they truly are. I understood Gray so much better, his actions were excruciating but you just got him. He was trying to fight for something and it was not easy on him. Story this time around was braver, she stood up to herself, even though some of her decisions weren’t the best, I loved that she was fighting for herself, she was not staying down and letting everyone step all over her.
For me an author is a genius when she can make me crave the angst. When I love a book where both characters alongside myself suffer so much. This book was truly torture but at no time, not even a single sentece made me doubt the love these two have for each other. It just flowed out of the pages and out of my eyes lol. They are more than destined, star crossed lovers, they truly are soulmates and I can’t imagine a world where they don’t end up together. I don’t want this story to end but I also am so excited to start the next book because I know it will be all worth it in the end.

After reading Stolen Soulmate I became obsessed with it and getting my hands on this book. When I say I was obsessed I'm not exaggerating even a little bit. I reread SS quite a view times and FF was on my mind EVERY SINGLE DAY. I want to live in the Crowne Point world forever!
This book caused me physical pain, again, not an exaggeration. As soon as I started reading I started feeling chest pain and I just wondered how long it would take before it would stop. I had to take a reading break. Never in my eight years since I seriously began reading, have I ever had to take a reading break. I was feeling so many emotions, the angst was at an all-time high. Mary is legitimately a MONSTER! She's sadistic I tell you! Her words hurt so good. I can't explain it, but I was begging for more. This story broke me apart and put me back together and I can't even explain how.
As for the characters? So many things that all the characters did drove me to drink. I hated everyone, every single person, yet I also loved them too? HOW?!?!? Mary is such an evil mastermind. I feel like she's the puppeteer and she's constantly pulling my strings. I think what confused me the most was that I started to want multiple things to happen that I didn't even know if I really wanted, my only response to that is that Mary made me!
I think to fully grasp to scope of everything, you definitely need to read all the books. I enjoy this series because it's like a giant puzzle and it's fun theorizing what's to happen next. Speaking of, I was happy that 3 of my predictions came to fruition in this book (they're not written anywhere nor did I share them). I love picking up on minuscule breadcrumbs that Mary drops and there are definitely some in SS. REALLY thoroughly read SS, you might pick up on something you missed.
For me, the theme of this series is a combo of both choice and sacrifice. Each book delves into what are the consequence of the choices we make, why do we even make these choices, and what are we willing to sacrifice to be able to make said choices? Then we have to explore how fate plays a role in all of this. Is fate absolute and if so, are the choices we make even ours to make?
As always, here are my critiques that are so minuscule they could be irrelevant. There was a lot of whining in this book by many of the characters and they each did it multiple times, but there was one in particular that was grating on my nerves (if you've read, you know who I'm talking about). I wasn't a huge fan of the emotional manipulation involving this character either. Suffice it to say, I 100% hate this character and I hated them in SS too.

This book!! Read all day and stayed up until 2am to finish it. I feel wrung out and devastated! I honestly don’t know what to do with myself.
"I'd once thought Snitch was poison ivy, but getting her out of me was going to be like ripping out thousand-year-old tree roots."
Grayson and Story AKA Snitch are caught in a diabolical net. Every time Grayson tries to do something to keep her safe, he ends up making things worse. Story is helpless to walk away when her heart and her only family live at Crowne Point.
This story almost drove me mad! I was frustrated, hopeful, excited and horrified. The author wove a tale with such tightly knotted skeins - so hopelessly knotted that I had to wonder how it was going to end. My heart broke for Grayson. He was trying to keep people happy and placate his enemies. He was just one man with no powerful allies. I was holding my breath and clutching my imaginary pearls because this guy!! His compulsion and his actions whenever Story was around was singular and determined in the face of censure and criticism.
"Grayson is a poet, but his lips are his pen, and his kiss is his poetry. And I'm frantic for it."
Story is one tough woman. Honestly, I don't know how she kept pushing forward every day. Life kept dealing her rubbish hands of cruelty, derision and impossible choices. My heart bled for her. Who could she trust? Who could she turn to? Could she really rely on Grayson?
"I couldn't give her anything but this notebook. My hopes. My dreams. Because, forever, they belong to her."
The air was electric between them whenever they were in close proximity and everything else just faded into the background. I felt the tiredness in their bones from fighting just to get through each day, but when they were together, in the quiet of darkness, they were just Story and Gray - equals, lovers, truth. Like the first novel, this book was such a contrast of cruelty and beauty. There were some truly beautiful moments between them that were full of promise, rapture and hope.
"I want to put bruises on your body. I want to put ink in your soul. I want you to do the same to me. Forever."
Story and Gray's tale has left a stain, as indelible as permanent ink, on me. I will think about their twisted love story for a really long time.
