THE HOMOSEXUAL ASPECT TO MODERN CATHOLIC ORDINATIONS.

June, July, and August are the busiest months for RC priestly ordinations, and most ordinands these days are sexually active homosexual men.

It is not unusual for many of these guys to have gay sex with a man or men on the eve of their ordination and on the night of their ordination.

Many other priests attending and concelebrating the ordination Mass will attend with their same sex partner, often another priest and sometimes a layman.

It would not be totally rare for clerics and others attending the ordination Mass and meal to later take part in gay group sex or a gay orgy.

It’s not unheard of for the ordinand to join in.

Nor is it unheard of for those involved in ordinations to end up in a gay sauna on the night of the ordination.

HOW THINGS HAVE CHANGED.

I regarded masturbation as at least a semi serious sin right up to the time I was in my mid and later 30s and always confessed it before celebrating Mass.

I did not have a sexual encounter with another human being until I was in my mid-30s, and I brought that person with me to confession at 6 am, in a monastery.

When I was 21, another person touched me sexually one night. The encounter lasted seconds, but again, I felt I needed confession before Mass and Holy Communion.

A BALANCE

Of course, in the past 30 plus years, I have greatly relaxed and matured about sexual and sinful matters.

Now, I don’t think of masturbation being in the sin catagory at all.

Nor do I see sex between consenting adults as a great moral question, especially when it happens in the context of love and affection.

And people do many things when loneliness is present.

But, I do not like the utter sexual permisiveness that currently pervades seminaries and the priesthood.

Its reminiscent of the excesses of Godless, pagan Rome, and I can’t see where Jesus and Christian morality feature in it 😞

Do something about it then, Pat. Starting with Glasgow. If young men are being targeted and groomed for abuse, you have a duty to call it out beyond the confessional box. God only knows the bishops can’t be trusted, given they’re complicit if not in on it.
Give to Cesar what is Cesar and lock them all away.

The thing is that the Irish media are a bit of a mafia. If there’s something they don’t to talk about, they won’t and anyone on social media doing so will be ignored or dismissed as a headbanger. Isn’t Minister Roderic O’Gorman sitting on the Mother and Babies report for reasons and there’s no big outcry? Maybe his great aunt was a mother superior in one of them. However social media (which includes +Pat’s blog) means that Patsy McGarry and John Cooney (Indo) or whoever the Irish Catholic head reporter, don’t have some monopoly any more.

Survivors have to go find themselves again. They won’t have seen themselves in years. Lost touch with their feelings because they’ve been repressing them just to survive. Spending a lot of time in cognitive dissonance because they cannot cope with what is happening to them. It can take them years if ever to get in touch with themselves and remember who they are. And who they are now is different to who they were before the church stuck in its multiple claws. They won’t be the same again. They were very naïve to believe in the fairytales. No more fairytales. Just rational reality frightens them now when they look back and think about how much crap they endured. If they don’t find their spirit their lives could end like that. What a tragedy. It seems to be fun for their perpetrators to spend their lives abusing and wrecking lives. Remember the lion in the cage, don’t put your hand in that cage, you’re are not a certified lion tamer.

I agree I don’t know why anyone would expect Patsy to anything about it when he has no power to do so, except to continue to call it out. The useless Hierarchy’s not just in Ireland but everywhere will continue to do nothing, not because they can’t but because they wont. Don’t waste your time contacting Papal Nuncios or Bishop’s because your concerns will just be binned as usual.

Pope Francis after hailing Peter I, torturer and killer of his son, plus a Basilian priest and Catherine (a ruthless imperialist and persecutor, earning him a magazine cover in Poland calling him the z Pope) just recently hailed Genghis Khan for bring people together. Most people, I hope, would hold a different on that.

What the Holy Father has done regarding abuse and priests completely ignore vows of celibacy is respectively showy announcements and nothing. Doing nothing is always easier than revert to the c. 11 C and modernday Greek custom of having priests and archpriests who are married or just do something about it that means anything. Nodding and winking just excites contempt from some, but most no longer care (unless it’s a wedding and a church is a nice venue and maybe cheaper than some hotel hall).

We can’t do that because of our obligation to hear Mass and to support our priests. So we can only hope that the clergy we deal with are not like the ones we hear about on here. There has to be some who are the genuine article and I’m sure there are Please God.

CROMWELL, Conn. — Some of the seminarians and transitional deacons at the center of an investigation into homosexual behavior and activity at a small Catholic seminary in Cromwell, Connecticut apparently were ordained to the priesthood for the Archdiocese of Hartford and the Diocese of Paterson, New Jersey — despite the revelations outlined in a six-year-old report obtained by the Register.
According to the 2012 report’s disturbing conclusions, the homosexual activity at Holy Apostles took place in the context of a much wider homosexual network that spanned a number of U.S. dioceses as well as some foreign countries. The network reportedly involved homosexual activity between seminarians, transitional deacons and visiting priests serving elsewhere.

It’s fascinating to contemplate the mindset of a ‘church’ where a group of adult men having apparently consensual sex with each other is described as disturbing but the bishops all facilitated child rape for decades.
There’s something very wrong there.

The Archdiocese of Hartford, Connecticut ordained a priest who had allegedly previously been expelled from another seminary for sexual misconduct. This priest was figured in Holy Apostles’ investigation and was, according to the investigation’s final report, “directly involved in hosting parties and engaging in unacceptable behavior/homosexual activity with select seminarians from both the Diocese of Paterson and the Archdiocese of Hartford.”
The investigation’s final report was provided to the Register by Holy Apostles’ president and rector, Basilian Father Douglas Mosey. He said the investigation, conducted during the spring semester in 2012, was based on eyewitness testimony and other evidence of ongoing homosexual behavior among some seminarians.
Father Mosey said he had been told by two seminarians that they had witnessed inappropriate conversation and contact among a group of seminarians from Colombia.
And in mid-April 2012, according to Father Mosey, a seminarian approached him with an eyewitness account of sodomy between two of the seminarians.

The coupling of celibacy and priesthood is at the root of these problems. The Church needs to sort that out.says:

My observation of young clergy is that for the most part they are of homosexual orientation. In and of itself this is not a problem, but when you link this to mandatory celibacy, and the homosexual orientation at some stage necessarily having to manifest itself in some way – rather like a pressure vessel containing things until it explodes – then you are looking at a problem, for the individual, for those he serves, and for the Church. The sublimation of homosexual orientation energies by the requirements of mandatory celibacy, and in conjunction with severely lacking psycho-sexual-emotional-affective awareness, health and training, ends up with very damaging results. We see it all the time. The expression of these energies, which we see in scandals and revelations every now and again, is bad and damaging enough, but what is most insidiously dangerous is the continuing covering up and leading a double, duplicitous life of lies. I sense that many young men who are challenged by their homosexual orientation, and who cannot find a way to embrace those energies in the world and in healthy relationships, are attracted to the supposedly sacrificial way of priesthood and celibacy without realising the costs to themselves and to others. There is much sublimation that goes on when a young homosexual man becomes a priest, and it is not a happy situation. Solution ? Decoupling homosexual orientation, celibacy and priesthood. The Church has tried to do that by saying that homosexually orientated men should not be ordained, but that has failed in great part because without these men the seminaries would be empty ! Accepting that the vast majority of priests, at least in the western world, are homosexual and accepting that they should be given some ways of expressing their innermost selves as well as being in ministry, is one way forward, but would require a wholesale reimagining of sexuality and priesthood which accepts homosexual expression within priesthood. It is already the reality, so why not make it clearly and transparently so ? Of course, it still begs the question about heterosexual clergy and celibacy and priesthood, however I think that for the most part homosexual clergy are equally dysfunctional, hobbled, damaged and living unauthentic lives because of the coupling of celibacy and priesthood perhaps as much as homosexual clergy. The matter of heterosexual clergy is becoming academic, anyhow, because any young man who is heterosexual and reasonably adjusted recognises that celibacy and priesthood are not for him, and avoids the seminary. That just leaves the homosexual candidates who still seem to see priesthood as the solution to their problem, a way of hiding in plain sight, but in fact it becomes an even more intractable and damaging problem for them. The coupling of celibacy and priesthood is at the root of these problems. The Church needs to sort that out.

Despite your attempts to use psycho babble, you utterly fail to notice that everything you say about homosexual priests is applicable to heterosexual priests.

… and heterosexual priests are just as problematic as homosexual priests. They all get up to no good, they all live a life of lies, they all lack integrity in their priesthood and their relationships. That’s what happens when you push people in to mandatory celibacy. It is severely damaging. Priesthood and the clerical culture is a cesspit of lies, duplicity, dishonesty, lack of integrity, self-delusion, nonsense spiritual justification.

Homosexuality is apparently hidden in the church as the church teachings have an abhorrance of all things sexual. It was not too long ago women were classed as dirty and sinful after given birth and had to undergo a cleansing ritual before allowed back to church. Pregnant women hid their bumps attending church in those times. Church teachings on sexuality and the cover ups have done untold damage to people.
Jesus said to be his disciple of spreading his word of Love you have to leave your family and he sent his disciples out in pairs. Is it now time to look at homosexuality in a new light among the clergy.
Paedophilia is a curse to be born with and paedophiles are intelligent charismatic people who get a kick out of manipulating and fooling people. They are dangerous and its time too to look at paedophilia seriously and how it can be treated but its an uphill struggle.

Irish Local Authority rescinds Freedom of Drogheda Town of Christian Brother Edmund Garvey in opposition to his legal strategy against victims of abuse by Christian Brothers Order.says:

Drogheda councillors have voted by a narrow majority to rescind the Freedom of the Town from former head of the Christian Brothers Bro Edmund Garvey.
In a reworded amendment to the original item, he will no longer ‘be recognised as a Freeman”, a note to which affect will be added to the original book.
The reworded motion read –
This council recognises the importance of civic leadership in both the recognition of positive contributions to the fabric of Drogheda, but also the bearing of responsibility inherent in all positions of authority and leadership.
The Council reiterates its complete opposition to the legal strategy first adopted by Edmund Garvey on behalf of the Christian Brothers Order.

I just don’t understand why any gay man would chose the catholic priesthood if he is sexually active.
Why join a club that despises your sexuality according to their teaching?
A bit like a meat eater joining the Vegan Society.
I was brought up as a catholic, I am 38 now, but I have no regard for the catholic church anymore in terms of what they teach, and I am very happy with my spiritual belief in an afterlife – When I see that so many gay men have become priests, I am just baffled. I would never ever want to become a priest knowing that I am attracted to men.
I feel it would be totally dishonest to the parishioners, for me to be lecturing about morals, marriage etc, when I know that I enjoy sleeping with men. I couldn’t live with that shame.
It must be a mind problem, where they think they can “pray the gay away” and if they become a priest, somehow that will fix everything – however it won’t, it will just make it a billion times worse, especially when they meet some attractive male parishioners or some attractive priests.
Why not join a religion which allows for same sex clergy – Methodists, Church of Scotland, The Open Episcopal Church and even some Old Catholic Rite Churches (those not agreeing to the pope’s power).

Well if the Vegan Society had a secret roast beef and venison section. It seems a bit like that where a homosexual subculture (which will always be an element in single professions) now seems dominant in the way +Pat said. I suppose at least most of these sexually active gay men won’t be preaching fire and brimstone sermons against gayness, but abhorrence of homosexuality is still official Catholic teaching.
