Criminal cases opened against more than 80 persons over post-election protests

After the protests, the Investigation Committee of Belarus launched 21 criminal cases, the Telegram channel of the agency reports.

The protests took place in different cities of the country on August 9. The IC reports that criminal cases have been filed under the following articles:

• 293 (mass riots);
• 363 (resistance to an internal affairs officer involving the use or threat of violence);
• 364 (Violence or threat of violence against an officer of the internal affairs agencies);
• 339 (hooliganism); 363 (Resistance to an internal affairs officer involving the use or threat of use of violence); 364 (Violence or threat of use of violence against an internal affairs officer); 339 (Bullying);
• 342 (organization and preparation of or active participation in acts grossly violating public order).

Most detainees are young people aged 20-25.
