The mission of the Arkansas Council of Teachers of Mathematics is to provide vision and leadership in improving the teaching and learning of mathematics so that every student is ensured of an equitable standards-based mathematics education and every teacher of mathematics is ensured the opportunity to grow professionally.




2024 ACTM Math Contest

The ACTM Executive Board is excited to formally announce the 2024 ACTM Math Contest.

  • Students will participate in an ACTM Regional Math Contest held on the campuses of our partner colleges/universities.
  • The top students from the regional math contests will be invited to the ACTM State Math contest, held on the campus of The University of Central Arkansas.
  • All contests will be held in-person.
  • The ACTM Regional Math Contests will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2024.

  • The invitational ACTM State Math Contest will be held Saturday, April 20, 2024.

New this year: ACTM Mathematics Teacher of the Year Award

To honor a few of our many excellent mathematics teachers in Arkansas, ACTM is starting an annual “ACTM Mathematics Teacher of the Year Award” in six categories. We would like you to spread the word and to nominate a deserving candidate, or nominate yourself! The awardees will be honored at this year’s annual ACTM conference on Friday, November 15, 2024.

  • 2024 ACTM Promising Novice Teacher of Mathematics Award (must have completed 1-3 years of K-12 teaching)

The following awards are for teachers with a minimum of four years teaching experience:

  • 2024 ACTM Excellence in Elementary School (K-4) Mathematics Teaching Award
  • 2024 ACTM Excellence in Middle School (5-8) Mathematics Teaching Award
  • 2024 ACTM Excellence in Secondary School (9-12) Mathematics Teaching Award
  • 2024 ACTM Excellence in Two-year College Mathematics Teaching Award
  • 2024 ACTM Excellence in Four-year College/University Mathematics Teaching Award

Applications are due September 15.  Clicking on the applications link will download a copy of the application packet for you to complete and send in.

Teacher Grants &

ACTM Math Contest 

  • State Mathematics Contest and 10 Regional Mathematics Contests for students are held every spring. 
  • Teachers who are ACTM members are eligible to apply for professional development and project grants of $500, for a total of $3,000 available per year.

The ARMATH and ARSTEM listservs are information sources for Arkansas Math and STEM educators.  These provide an opportunity for teachers, state education agencies, and other professionals to share information such as policy updates, professional development, curriculum and lesson plan resources, and ideas related to Math and/or STEM education.
