Americans for Prosperity: Tax Plan is “A Step in the Right Direction”

COLUMBIA, SC — Americans for Prosperity – South Carolina (AFP-SC) State Director Candace Carroll released the following statement after Governor McMaster and state legislators proposed a new plan to cut state income tax:

“Right now, the state income tax in South Carolina is the highest in the southeast. This proposal from Governor McMaster and House Leadership to reduce the number of tax brackets is a step in the right direction to reducing the tax burden on South Carolinians. However, we would like to see an even more ambitious reduction to the top marginal rate, enabling everyone to succeed instead of punishing their success. By letting taxpayers keep more of their hard earned money, we can unleash innovation and prosperity for all.”
