Tanzania: Regional Oil Firm Requires $44 Million for Loading Facility Destroyed By Tsunami

Dar Es Salaam — The Tanzania and Zambia Oil Pipeline Ltd (TAZAMA) needs US$44m for the replacement of the ill-fated crude oil off-loading facility in Dar es Salaam that was destroyed by the 2004 Tsunami.

Dr. Buleti Nsemakula, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Energy and Water Development told Business Week from Lusaka, Zambia last week that the firm needs the money to avert an impending oil crisis in at home.
