Q:
Does anyone know what Pinot Grigio options they serve? I had a delicious PG that was light and crisp...perfectly refreshing on a hot day. I didn't see any PG on the menu so I just trusted the bartender!

My review is specifically for their Bolos & Bourbon event.
I had no idea the Driskill hosts fun events like this one! The historic charm of the hotel is so perfect for this Texas-themed activity
In the Bolos & Bourbon workshop, you'll sip on 3 distinct pours of Texas bourbon and learn about its history. Then you'll make your very own Bolo tie to take home with you! I didn't know what a Bolo tie was before this but I learned so much :)
Our guide was legendary! Full of interesting stories & fun facts.
If you're like me and love an activity for a social hang, this will be right up your alley! It's also a great activity for out-of-town guests to embrace all things TexanHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Apr 8, 2024Updated review3 check-ins
Historic hotel with their own curated ghosts. We love the lobby is is special and reminiscent of the grand hotels in Europe. The best part is that it is a Hyatt Unbound collection.
My Austin hotel, yes! We will be back.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Nov 6, 2023Previous reviewThis place is amazing. Beautiful property with an exceptional history. We have not been visited yet by the local ghosts. Our absolutely favorite place to stay in Austin. The breakfast cafe is great with amazing pastry.
Oct 26, 2022Previous reviewThis historic hotel is beautiful! 1886 cafe is fantastic! Mark the executive chef does a great job on the food. The 1886 chocolate cake was memorable and I will have again and again. The historic rooms are beautiful! We can't wait to visit again!

This is definitely a luxurious hotel. It's the kind of place that reminds you of an earlier time.
You are seated in the heart of Austin just minutes from the gorgeous state capital and completely surrounded by a hustle and bustle of old and new tall buildings, and older quaint stores and shops that you definitely want to check out. Seated on Sixth Street is a busy place with bars and tattoo shops and music all around. So you will never find a place where conducive to having an extensive night life. Even the well-known elephant room, which is an underground jazz club and bar, is right around the corner.
The hotel itself is polished and beautifully built from the exterior to the interior. The inside has a particular sense that is loved and well cared for, but if you have any reservations about spirits, and I don't mean the alcoholic kind, then you may want to
reconsider staying here.
If you are here for the alcoholic spirits, good for you! Plenty to be had, but get ready to break out your pocket book. Because nothing in this hotel is what I would consider affordable by average standardsl.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mar 3, 20241 check-in
We didn't stay at the Driskill but visited it. What a beautiful historic place. If you visit Austin you should check it out. The architecture and paintings are so amazing.

This is one of the places you go to just for the experience. Definitely nothing special other than... it's THE Driskill. We didn't stay here; we just went and had a drink at the bar. As you can expect, it is overpriced...but again, you pay for the experience. We ordered an Old fashioned and an Espresso Martini, not bad...but nothing memorable about them, you can get better ones anywhere else. We went on a Friday, so it was a busy night, service was a little slow but it's understandable.

I would say the hotel is beautiful and nicely decorated for the holidays.
I would say a couple of front desk workers were really nice but another was a little cold and unfriendly towards me
The hotel room was rather small and basic. The TV was so small I could barely see what I was watching. The carpet is coming apart near bathroom. The curtains I am sure could use some cleaning and the couch / pillows need some updating. I did ask for a firmer pillow that is normally given but they all flatten and have no support.
Not sure I would stay here again.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Apr 7, 2023
The spooky history behind this place and the old-timey decor and structure (inside and out) that's still in-tact is something to stop in and see, even if you aren't staying at the hotel!
We had the luxury of having three separate tours (2 haunted and 1 food) stop through here to hear about some of the haunted history behind this hotel. I won't give any spoilers about what is covered, but the Austin Downtown Walking Tasting Tour with SecretFoodTours, Austin Haunted Pub Crawl Walking Tour, and Haunted Revelry Tours - Austin all make their way through this hotel and give a bit of history behind this place.
That being said, walking in here takes you back in time many many decades. From how it looks to how it smells even, you get a blast from the past. We experienced the bar a couple times. When it just opened and at its peak busyness hours. I had a few different types of old fashions and my wife had some of their white wine selection as well as some of the specialty vodka drinks. There are a lot of different areas to sit to enjoy your drink, and as long as you're careful, you can even explore the hotel with your beverage too.
Maybe one day we'll stay here, but one thing I must say from the different things we heard about this hotel...........is that the floor you stay on can make a difference for your experience... O_OHelpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Oct 12, 2022
We really enjoyed our stay at the Driskill! It felt like stepping back in time but with modern comforts. The ambiance is like that of a speakeasy, which I love. All of the original (I assume) door handles, wide elevator, stained glass, etc has been restored, which is fun.
The (complimentary upgraded) room nice, but the bathroom was very small, which is to be expected for an old hotel. The shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and lotion was high end and smelled great. The sheets and bed were super comfortable! The couch was a nice comfy spot for a nap.
The best part of stay was the breakfast at the 1886 Cafe. The quiche was amazing! The avocado toast was also great and my wife enjoyed her omelet. We sat inside and out and enjoyed both.
Location is great! Check out Midnight Cowboy right down the road for another cool speakeasy spot!Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Feb 23, 2023
Had a lovely time at Driskill! Stayed here for 3 nights and everything from the rooms to the room service was great! I did feel the room was smaller in comparison with other 4 star hotels, but you get to choose from a number of different rooms/suites on their website. 1886 is a super nice cafe serving breakfast and brunch. The food here is amazing, they serve everything from breakfast croissants to eggs and ham. Highly recommend Driskill if you are looking a hotel that is touristy, antiquated (partly) and with great vibes.
