Q:
Are kids allowed?
A:
Yes, but they would probably be bored.
Charles C.Â2 years ago 1 person found this helpfulQ:
Do they allow dogs? Inside and outside?
A:
No, it's not set up like that. You can go to The Wine Pub but the food and wine can't compare with 3rd Corner. Leave your dog at home!!!!

I came here specifically because I saw short rib on the menu (my favorite) and it did not disappoint! Tasty dish over a bed of mashed potatoes and freshly roasted brussel sprouts. Nice portion size and with the 3rd corner fries and the baguette as an appetizer, I was stuffed!
My friends split a bunch of apps, ceasar salad, baked Brie, Humboldt fog cheese, and the short rib sliders... everyone loved their food!
A really fun part of this concept is either picking a glass of wine from their set menu or getting the explore through the hundreds of bottles that they have, pay a $7 corkage fee, and enjoy the bottle at your table. Great wine selection with a ton we had never heard of.
Service was great and friendly from the hostess to the bidder to our waiter. Really positive dining experience!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Mar 29, 20241 check-in
Dog friendly on patio. We came to OB to visit for bday week. Toddler and frenchie in tow.
Love the staff. So friendly and accommodating.
Everything we ordered was super flavorful and well prepared. I personally love all mushroom and seafood and as soon as I saw the menu, had to come.
The patio was bright with pretty lights and cozy heater. Everyone enjoyed the meal and I would definitely come back next time.
Bringing kids to nice places can be tough but they were really nice and brought bread when the pasta was taking a long time. We appreciate it as parents who don't get to go out for date night alone anymore. Anything to keep the tiny terror from melting down.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - William C.Nokomis, Minneapolis, MN146859Jan 18, 2024
Spicy sausage penne $26 I like this meal and there was plenty on the plate.
Daou pessimist red blend was very good
Chocolate chip Bread pudding made with croissants $15
This was OK Plenty for two or three people to enjoy. Chocolate was too muted but overall good pudding.
Ceiling lights, a number of people commented on being too harsh. Could use bulbs with lower color temp.
Service was good.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Apr 10, 2024
I celebrated my friend's birthday here and had a wonderful time. I love how they set up their wine selection, you get to walk around and browse their wines pick a bottle and bring it back to your table. All you pay for is the cost of the bottle, which is like your normal grocery store price, and pay a corkage fee. The food was also delicious and will be coming back soon!

Absolutely a wonderful place to dine. Every time the food is consistently amazing. Today, we dropped in for a quick bite. I had steak and hubby, salmon. Food was delicious. Service was at the bar. It is the first time we eat at the bar and it was very pleasant. The inside of this place is very charming. It has different ambiance which makes it more lovely.
If you are in the area, make an effort to come by, you won't be disappointed. Yum! Oh yeah, happy new year!!!Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 0May 23, 2022Previous reviewAmazing place. First of all, you like wine? Then head to this lovely wine/restaurant venue.
We stop by late on Sunday for a bite and we were so glad. Food was very good and the service was great as well.
If you're ever by ocean beach, make an effort to stop by at The 3rd Corner, you will not be disappointed.

On my recent re-visit, the reception at the Third Corner had improved. Specifically, the aggressive and unpleasant "hostess" from my last visit was no where to be found.
I was seated at a corner table by the window overlooking West Point Loma Boulevard and perused the menu. There are two dining rooms at The Third Corner: The "White Room", where the white wines and sparkling wines/Champagnes are stored; and the "Red Room", where the red wines are stored and where the bar is located. I like the bar itself, but the handfull of tables in the Red Room strewn along a banquette lack charm and the feeling is that of "Siberia". Accordingly, I would be sure to request to be seated in the "White Room".
Although several waitresses passed my table numerous times (often calling out "corner" to warn other servers of their presence), no one approached my table for 15 minutes, despite the quiet room and the early hour [5:30 pm]. There were no apologizes or explanations when the waitress finally attended to the table.
The specials of the evening were a good Roasted Red Bell Pepper Soup and a Grouper with Red Wine/Butter Soup. I enjoyed them both.
I noted the male kitchen waiter would deliver food to the tables by holding out the various dishes in the air saying to no one in particular "Short Ribs?", "Scallops?". He expected the guests to raise their hand as to each "call out", as if the Third Corner was "auctioning off" the food. It would be much more professional if the Waitress who takes the order would identify customers on the order by 1, 2, 3, 4. etc, so that current unprofessional "auction presentation" could be avoided.
The after-dinner Irish Coffee was good and properly made.
There is a small parking lot along the West Point Loma Boulevard side of the building. If those few spaces are taken, parking can be a nightmare.Helpful 4Thanks 1Love this 4Oh no 0Aug 29, 2017Previous reviewIt has been a couple of years since my last visit to the Third Corner, at which time I recall a kind of pre-prepared "bar food" being served without much personality. I decided to return today [Tuesday] at 4:30 p.m. I parked along the side of the building on West Point Loma Boulevard, and walked around the corner to the entrance. The bartender greeted me and inquired if I wanted to sit in the bar or the main dining room. I chose a corner banquette along the windows in the main dining room. I ordered a Happy Hour Chardonnay [I liked the way the bartender immediately highlighted the Happy Hour menu without prodding, and it is served throughout the restaurant, not only in the bar, as is often the case]. Rachael took care of me, and her manner was kind and efficient. I wanted to nibble on something at the outset, so I ordered French Fries, which were served in a tall paper "cone", with ketchup and Garlic Aioli in two little dishes on the side. I would have preferred the French Fries to be served simply in a ceramic bowl, as I do not like "digging my hand" deep into the depths of a paper cone. For the main course, I selected one of the plats du jour, which was a Sea Bass with Shrimp Scampi, garlic mashed potatoes and sautéed green beans. It was also covered in mushrooms, which the description did not reference. I suggested to Rachael that she might want to mention the mushrooms to the guests. Overall, I am pleased to report the Third Corner appears to be back on track.

I was eager to try this place for awhile - we ordered the shrimp arribiatta, asparagus risotto, and charcuterie plate. The portions were just right for individuals.
Service was slow for a weeknight, almost like our server was filling in for someone since they didn't really explain the menu. We had dinner reservations, but waited a good 15 minutes to be seated since no one was up front.
The ambiance is intimate and inviting for dinner. I loved that you were able to peruse the wines and pick one for the table, but from the dinner table, it was a bit confusing since the menus did not list any glass or bottle pricing.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 373338775Jun 30, 2023
I stopped by here for dinner. When I came in, no one was there to greet me and I looked around trying to figure out where the host was. A worker finally came to help me after checking out wine for someone and asked if I was looking for someone. The way it was asked was as if it was implied that I didn't belong at this wine bar when in fact I was here to dine with my family.
The risotto was bland. I couldn't even finish risotto which has never happened before as I love risotto. The fries were displayed nicely but it was hard to share and grab as it was string fries and very thin. Out of all the dishes we ordered, the pasta was the best one.
The plates, napkins, and cups had remaining food stains on them. Gross! They were not washed properly.Helpful 4Thanks 1Love this 3Oh no 0 - Susan S.San Diego, CA026Mar 8, 2024
My husband and I have been going to 3rd
Corner in OB for the last 10 years. It has a great wine selection every time and affordable. The service is friendly and reasonably quick and the food always delicious and hot. If there is a weak spot it is the dessert selection. Everything else is top marks in every way. Ambiance is cozy and comfortable Parking can be bad if you can't get into the lot but we have started eating early so that is not a problem. Love it must try itHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Dec 6, 2023Seated via Yelp Reservations
Wow. What an amazing and unique spot. A phenomenal and very reasonably priced wine selection. Being able to walk around the store and pick your wine before or while you're sitting is awesome. And the food! Everything is amazing from the bread to the entrees. Eat here.
