Always read hotel reviews with a handful of salt, recognizing so many factors go into play for someone to have a good experience. Location wise this hotel is prime and on the Riverwalk. its beautifully historic one too when you enter. Staff interactions are always person dependent and I personally had good interactions.
As for the rooms, our beds seemed clean, though i can never get over the certain chemical smell on sheets from certain hotels. Bathrooms were spacious and clean.
One thing about the hotel was its corridors and getting lost a few times. I didnt feel unsafe but sometimes at night i did prefer that we were in a group and not alone.
A very nice pool and courtyards.
Parking is valet or garage across the street. Overall recommend.

I give this place two stars for one reason the valet ... excellent.. the rest ... trash. 650 for two nights to stare at a parking garage and get charged 30 bucks for WiFi which is free for a 3 dollar cup of coffee every where else. Overrated garbage, save your money.

      My view for 600 bucks

Would HIGHLY not recommend staying here. This was my first experience with the Omni portfolio and, unfortunately, it will be my last. The property is relatively old and dilapidated compared to others on The Riverwalk. Furthermore, there was a heavy rain overnight, and the fire alarms would not stop going off. Around 2AM they eventually stopped, but we were woken up the next morning around 8:30AM to the lovely sound of more fire alarms being triggered, even when it was no longer raining. I understand that is it an older & "historic" property, but this should not be an issue, especially with the amount of rain that the San Antonio area receives. We were extremely disappointed to say the least. Will be looking elsewhere for lodging options next time we come in town.

First off, I have to say I'm super thankful to be a guest here because when I first checked hotels in all of San Antonio, this looked to be the most popular pick. A 4-star hotel with such limited availability that when I entered the dates of my stay on their website and even booking.com, I was told no availability. I still kept my eyes on it in the event someone canceled their reservation or something would come up through some other means, and wouldn't you know it? Turns out there was availability for me when I thought I'd have to settle for Hotel Valencia Riverwalk, another 4-star hotel, but with much more availability from what I could see.

I stayed at a couple of hotels in Seattle earlier this year. One was by Marriott, and the other was by Hilton. However, I'm pretty sure I would have gotten sick of both if I stayed as long as I did in San Antonio. So instead of going with either, I went with Omni, even if it meant sacrificing free breakfasts.

Omni La Mansion Del Rio is located in downtown San Antonio, literally right by the Riverwalk, the heart of Alamo City, especially considering that namesake historical monument is just a half mile east. As a matter of fact, within a half mile radius of this resort, you can find so many shops and eateries that even if you spent a month there, you probably won't have time to patronize each and every one of them!

Two things that concerned me up front were parking and laundry. Since I was going to be in San Antonio for a few weeks, I called them a couple days before my check-in date to ask. For parking, it is valet only, and it's $49 per night, which is obviously pricey, but you do get in-and-out privileges unlike the Houston Street Garage on the other side of College Street. When you want to head out of the hotel via car, you'll have to call the front desk to let them know to get your car ready. Sometimes, this can take 5 minutes. Other times, it can take 30, and I've had that happen a couple times, which was really annoying. However, one of the valet attendants did tell me about a chest by the door to the lobby that has cold water bottles; they also had some Powerade bottles on another day.

For laundry, I was told over the phone it is dry cleaning only. However, I did see a form to fill out for laundry services, but the pricing is so extravagant you'd be better off finding a laundromat.

On my first day, I noticed that the shower light in my room wouldn't turn off. There was no switch for it, so when I called the front desk for help, they sent a technician, and even he couldn't get it resolved that day! They had to order a switch and install it the next day; for the trouble, I was compensated with $100 credit at any of their restaurants; I used it all at Four Brothers.

On my second day, the alarm went off literally right after I called the front desk to bring me my rental car. All they left me was a letter of apology informing me it was a false alarm. Luckily, no false alarms after that.

Closet space isn't that large. If you try to hang long pants in the closet, they'll be touching the floor.

Housekeeping is inconsistent. There were some days when they did everything they were supposed to, but most other days, they missed a few things, like cleaning out my ice bucket and restocking my coffee bar. This got a little annoying, but a call to the front desk later, they got me the needed supplies. Sometimes, it could take 10 minutes. Other times, it could take 30. I do appreciate how they're happy to give you as many water bottles as you'd like. I once asked for a dozen, and they gave me the dozen I asked for.

There are two restaurants on the hotel's property: Four Brothers and El Colegio. El Colegio is a bar, but offers delicious eats as well. I'm not 100% sure, but I think these eats are prepared at Four Brothers and brought to El Colegio. If that's true, it seems kind of silly. Four Brothers is a full-service restaurant with a bar, and there's also a Riverwalk entrance for tourists who aren't guests of the hotel.

The employees are usually pretty hospitable and do what they can to make your stay comfortable, but a couple of valet attendants can be borderline rude. One was clearly agitated when there were a handful of cars to attend to at the entrance, and another made me feel like an idiot for driving into the exit lane even though I've seen other cars enter that lane too.

I stayed for almost three weeks, and even though they try hard to perform on a consistent basis, it wasn't like that during my whole three weeks. Of course, everyone has their bad days; it was probably half and half if I had to guess.

Overall, it wasn't a bad stay, but if I make a return visit to downtown San Antonio, I'm likely going to try Hotel Valencia Riverwalk instead to see how that one compares. If that one is full, this isn't a bad option. However, just be forewarned that for the price you pay, you'd expect the best, but it won't necessarily be the best if that makes sense.

For our first family trip to San Antonio, we chose the Omni since we have had experience with their hotels in the past and the La Mansion del Rio location seemed well-placed on the Riverwalk.

Walking in, the staff mentioned that there was availability throughout the hotel so they moved us down to the pool level, where each room has French doors that open to the pool area. This definitely elevated our trip as our little one loves the pool, so it was easy access to it all weekend.

I really do think this Omni location has it all - great proximity, good food, friendly staff, and a beautiful setting. Their riverwalk location pops you out in the central hive of the Riverwalk, with the most scenic bridge right before you and a riverboat boarding location nearby as well. Multiple restaurants, the Alamo, Buckhorn Saloon, La Panaderia, Voodoo Donuts, and the Riverwalk Mall are all in walking distance. This really made logistics extremely simple.

What this hotel has that some of the other competitor's do not is history and beauty. The 6 story spanish-style addition that was added nearly 50 years ago really makes it a pleasant place to stay and you have great views of it from the pool area, you have a resort feel without the price. While the pool itself isn't as large as other, newer hotels, it was great for our needs.

Both of their restaurants have dining alongside the Riverwalk and the grounds of the hotel are compact, but given its unique architecture, its easy to find a nook to escape in as well.

If you're like us and you are intent on exploring, I would recommend staying on the first floor as its so easy to just pop out to the pool or the Riverwalk. That said, I do not think you can have a bad location at this place, be it with a pool view or riverwalk view.

Needless to say, I think La Mansion del Rio will be our default location anytime we want to come back to the riverwalk as I do not think we would have had such a great time staying elsewhere.

Definitely pick this hotel! If you can request a corner room, you will get the street and courtyard view without paying more. The water that is in the lobby is so good!!!! Front desk, bartender, valet were the 3 workers that we encountered and all of them were so kind and accommodating.

The archeticture and history of this hotel is in a catergory of its own! You feel you are stepping back into time with its beautiful balconies and long hallways, all in a good way. Room was very modern and spacious. You can't beat this location as it is on the river walk. Really enjoyed my stay here, however I am taking a star off as a fire alarm went off at 3:30am for my 1 night stay and everyone needed to evacuate their rooms. Yes this may be out of there control if someone pulled it, but being here on business and then having your sleep interrupted is unpleasant and all so a bit scary.
Would give this another try as staff was pleasant and location is perfect
