Yes we have been closed for a while now. Did you eat here recently? If so it was not me. I am very curious to know.

Okay, that's it. I'm packing up. This place has dethroned my favorite barbecue place in Austin and, of course, it's barbecue with Asian flavors (Szechuan Brisket, Hoisin Beef Rib, etc.). Yes, I'm very bias to Asian flavors but that's not the only reason why I'm digging this place. It's how he made every single thing fall-off-the-bone, melty tender or crisp; just done right. It's so good this post is the preface to what I'm about to tell yall. Everything was what it should be and if you place each menu item up against an Austin big player, I think they'd be running the same, in my opinion
With only 129 followers on IG at the moment and only open on the weekends, they are definitely under promoted. I'm here to change that:
Szechuan Brisket ($22/lb). The brisket is the main art and this is why this works. There's a balance of marbling that I always look for when it comes to brisket, and it was indeed break-apart satisfying. The fattiness and smokiness balance the peppercorn out, so it's not just an oily Szechuan restaurant on a brisket. You won't get a disruptive peppercorn explosion that numbs you for gingivitis surgery but there is definitely a kick. If you particularly want more of it, they have fatty burnt ends
Waygu Hoisin Beef Ribs ($mkt). Yes, one of those bigger than Dwayne Johnson's forearm kinda size of ribs. The Hoisin was caramelized so it makes the rib cleverly savory as opposed to raw, very sweet hoisin. By the way, you have the choice of chopsticks as eating utensils and this is exactly what we used to pull off the meat with a gentle nudge. In fact, don't think you could pick it up and grapple without the meat falling apart onto your tray
Sweet & Sour Pork Belly ($1 ea.). Look at this. It tastes just how it looks which is why I preface in my previous post that I do minimal photo touch-ups to keep the integrity of the food. The skin was crispy and meat bouncy. If you squeeze it, the fat mushes and the juices come running out. It had a slightly sweet and sour flavoring that's considerate enough to not destroy your barbecue experience. When I come back, this will be a regular order
5 Spice Thai Spare Ribs ($18/lb). These buggers were so tender, you could pick it off with your finger. The thick sweet sauce you can get extra on the side of and like everything on the menu, it was thoroughly flavorful down to the bone. If you like barbecue sauce that's on the sweeter side vs. tangy, I highly recommend this
Orange Smoked Duck ($mkt) is the most tender I've ever had and, believe me, I'm Asian I've had tons of duck. The skin, meat was soft and the flavor was more savory smoke than orange. Seldom do I run into juicy duck breast which is why I've always preferred the leg at the Asian restaurants. Here, you wouldn't have to worry about picking and choosing
Vendaloo Pork Butt Sandwich ($10) You won't know where to start with this sandwich. For you Asians, you know about Pork Floss right? Well, the pork on this is so tender you can make your own fresh pork floss out of it. This thing is 5 fingers, tall. 6 if I was polydactyl. It comes with pickles and a topping of red cabbage Seoul Slaw. Red cabbage is overall crispier than regular cabbage so this is appreciated against the sloppy sauce and bun. Again, if you like sweet barbecue sauce in sandwich form, this is my recommendation
Huli Huli Chicken ($9 half/$16 whole). Throw your Walmart Rotisserie away. The chicken comes outpouring and soaked in its own juices. As you eat this, you have to slurp. Again, another menu item that if you lift its bone it'll fall apart. Getting the Aloha Buns and Seoul Slaw was the best idea because the buns sponge up the juice (no waste!) and the slaw cuts through the fattiness of the chicken skin
Crackling. Not on the menu but see if you can get some. This is what you see on TV of those Filipinos or Hawaiians roasting an entire pig and it makes you wonder. Wonder no more. It's crisp, chewy and right under is a glistening, soft layer of fat. These little things alone, drip down your fingahsHelpful 17Thanks 0Love this 17Oh no 0Business owner information

Absolutely delicious! Shoots right up to the top of my fave bbq joints! The cook of all the meats was fantastic, and then the asian inspired creativity puts it over the top. What a hidden gem, located in a small, unassuming food truck park right off RM 620!
The asian influences are fairly subtle -- you definitely aren't getting mouth-numbing from the szechuan brisket, for example, but there's that little hint of something surprising, different, yet delectable about every single thing on this menu.
Tried literally everything I could by ordering two of the 3-meat plates plus a couple of add-ons. First off: I usually order bbq by the lb because plates never seem like a good deal, but hold up, because the plates here have A LOT of meat. I was very hungry before I got home with my to-go order and yet only managed to finish half my plate.
Brisket - absolutely fantastic. Even the boyfriend who doesn't usually like brisket loooved this one! Super moist.
Huli huli chicken - I often don't get chicken but I'm so happy I did. I had a large thigh + drum (again, so much meat considering this was one of the three meats on my plate). Not a single part of that chicken was dry, and the skin was covered in some sort of delicious, slightly sweet sauce that permeated the whole thigh.
Vendaloo pork butt - this is battling with the brisket to be my favorite. The curried sauce on the outside was so delicious; the inside let the pork flavors shine through. Again, everything was tender and moist, and *not* stringy (my pet peeve about pork butt)
Sparerib - this was tasty, although perhaps the least surprising of all the meats (because, I honestly don't think I've had a pork rib I didn't like)
Pork belly burnt ends - I kind of wanted to like these more because I love love pork belly. I only tried two pieces and one was great (like pig candy!) but the other was a little too burnt. I'll definitely give these another go though (at only $1 per piece, what a steal). I've seen pics by others who ordered it and they looked better than my pieces.
Also, don't sleep on the sides! My complaint about most of the top bbq joints around town is I'm very meh about the sides. The sides here are wonderful. The slaw is made with red cabbage and has a fairly light dressing (ie I don't feel like Im just eating watery mayo). The magic beans are seriously magic -- it might as well be considered a fourth meat on the plate because it's very very meaty. The potato salad is creamy and had a teasing hint of candied ginger at the top of the palate (but not in the aftertaste). And then the cardamom infused rice crispy treat made me feel like a kid at a fancy tea party.
What I haven't tried yet because they require advance notice: hoisin beef rib and orange duck.
Additional perk: free beer!Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0Business owner information

Go and get your BBQ from Kaiser! It's a must try place.
Been going back and forth to Austin for the past few months and have always passed by the lot where they are located. For the same past few months, I've always tried going but when I try to go, they're already closed and sold out. This past Saturday, I had my chance and waited for an hour just so I can finally try their food! IT WAS WORTH THE WAIT! They were running a bit late which was perfectly fine. He shows care and dedication for his product and wouldn't serve his food unless he's happy about with it. I tried everything on the menu available that day and here's my take:
The Brisket was amazing! The use of the Szechuan peppercorns on the rub was a smart play on flavor and texture. It gave the brisket that slight numbing/tingling sensation and a bit of a mouthfeel since he left some of the peppercorn not fully crushed. It was incredibly moist and tender.
Vindaloo Pulled pork was an eye opener for me. To be honest I wasn't sure about it in the beginning since I didn't think it would work well with the "BBQ" concept. I was wrong. His use of the sauce and his process of making the pork balanced well with the pork successfully and left such a wonderful play on the flavors. Again, incredibly moist and tender!
Sweet and Sour Pork Belly, Huli Huli Chicken and the Spare Ribs we're excellent as well. They were done right and seasoned well.
- Pork Belly was served in substantial cubes, soft and moist and the sauce was caramelized perfectly to pair with the fatty belly.
- The Huli Huli Chicken wasn't dry at all and the seasoning didn't overpower the chicken. The skin was rendered well too which gave it a good balance of fat and flavor and carried his spices/rub evenly.
- Spareribs we're huge! They were also cooked perfectly, moist and tender but still had a bit of a pull which I liked texture wise. I'm glad it wasn't fully sauced and just glazed - another preference - so you can still have that pork flavor come thru.
Sides and dessert - don't miss out! The coleslaw, potato salad and beans can be a meal on their own. Agains, incredible use of flavor and textures and they work really well with the meats they are served with. They can stand on their own. My favorite was the potato salad! If they have the rice krispy bars, try it! The cardamom was a great surprise!
All in all, I dare say Kaiser BBQ is my favorite BBQ spot in Austin now. Be sure to visit them on the weekends and call or text ahead. He's very kind and hospitable and he's very honest and proud about his food. Everything was thought off well, flavorful and balanced. I need to come back and try the beef ribs next!
Thank you for the wonderful hospitality and the epic food!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

There needs to be a , kiss your feet emoji, lol. You wrote exactly what I try and do with every dish. I just want people to have options with their bbq. Simple, yet not the same as everyone else. Black pepper and jalapeño cheddar everything is great. But the climb to Everest is getting full and the line is long. There are many other peaks bbq can attain to. AJ, you are always welcome. I hope to see you many more times as a customer. Thank you for the good vibes and kind words. Hopefully the meat sweats weren’t too bad lol.

This is probably the best BBQ I have had in the State of Texas.
Kaiser's Twisted BBQ uses Texas style BBQ as a platform to fuse Asian elements into each meat and create stupefying flavor combinations that challenge the very essence of what you thought possible with barbecue.
I liked everything, but the standout for me was the Vindaloo Pork Butt. Adding intense Indian spices to pork of course was going to be magic, but the BBQ itself had a soft pull apart consistency that added value as well. This is one of the best pork BBQ dishes I have had in any state let alone Texas.
Want to see what they do with brisket and beef ribs? The Hoisin basted beef rib is so deep in flavor you'll forget about that silly rule people make about adding sauce to beef ribs. Again, this was probably the best beef rib I have had in Texas. The brisket is also very tasty with a hint of Sichuan peppercorn in the rub, but I strongly prefer the beef rib.
I was a bit too full at this point to properly appreciate the huli huli chicken, beans and cole slaw, but I really enjoyed the beans out of those three orders. We also had a smoked orange duck that was exceptional.
Also, while you are waiting, the proprietor handed out a few beers. That was super nice and reminded me of Micklethwait BBQ near downtown Austin.
Anyhow, the reviews here are legit. There is a reason pretty much everyone is dropping a 5 star review for this place. And whether that reason is you've been waiting for novel flavors after everyone else seemingly has chased the exact same (albeit tasty) approach to BBQ, there is no reason not to check this place out. I never thought a trip to Bee Cave would lead to some of the best BBQ I have ever eaten in my life, but here we are. This is nationally relevant destination level BBQ, and it means I'll have to consider a few more trips to Austin that include Lake Travis in the itinerary.Helpful 11Thanks 0Love this 6Oh no 0Business owner information

Wow, such a heartfelt review. Thank you. I do put my heart and soul into everything we make here and I try to make sure everyone has an experience like you did. I’m so happy I got to share the 4 th of July with you guys. I hope to see you again so you get to try other things that I make as well. And maybe one day I’ll get national recognition, that would be grand. But for now, I just like making the people around me happy with my bbq, and free beer lol.

Oh wow. Where do I start? So I've tried a lot of bbq here. Terri black's and several others in town ... I have to say this brisket was the best brisket I've ever had. In my life. I'm not kidding. Out of this world. It was waging brisket so hopefully he has some when you show up.
The sides were incredible too. I hate Cole slaw and potato salad. So bland and boring usually ... but this was insane! Actual flavor ... yeah like imagine Cole slaw and potato salad that taste amazing!

Move over Loro, you have just met your match... this new barbecue truck with an Asian flair is hands-down some of the best barbecue in Austin.
The Szechuan peppercorn brisket was absolutely amazing. The pork ribs were also some of the best I have ever had. I got the beef rib and it was savory and delicious. Their magic beans are definitely exactly what they're named after, magic. The potato salad is also a must-try as it also has a unique twist. To finish it all off we had their take on Rice Krispy bars and an awesome mango cheese cake.
This is definitely worth a drive to Bee Cave to discover some of the best new barbecue in the Austin area.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information

I am over joyed to have served such wonderful people as you. It warms my heart that the both of you enjoyed the love I putt into my BBQ. It's words like yours that is the reason why all the people in this business work so hard to provide happyness to the patrons who eat our BBQ. Mahalo, and may God bless you.

I'm so glad I stopped by this amazing food truck today. The brisket melts in your mouth, the cole slaw is some of the best I've ever had, the burnt ends blew my mind. This is some of the best bbq I've ever had and it's got an Asian twist. Sorry Loro, I've found better bbq way closer to home.
