Q:
I'm going to be doing some working from home stuff on a laptop there. What is a spot where I can sit and do that for several hours at a time? Or should I stick to my room for it?
A:
Just a thought- the atrium is tourist central, but depending on what's happening in the convention center part of the building there might be quiet corners and cubbies available. Or it might be worse.
John P.2 years agoQ:
Does it cost extra to use the water park like in Nashville or is it included like Denver?
A:
It's included with your stay.

We've been here five times and it has become our get-out-of-town-stay-in-town getaway. We feel like we are in Vegas or somewhere not DFW metro when we go here. It really feels like a vacation. It's very relaxing and peaceful walking along the creek, and water features are always calming. The interior of the atrium is gorgeous and takes you away to a different place.
The hotel/resort can get super busy at holidays. It also hosts conventions so there are conventioneers wandering around.
The outdoor pool can be very busy when the weather is nice.
The rooms are comfortable and more than adequate. The beds are fine, not super soft or super hard. The pillows are actually too big and fluffy and don't have much give, so be prepared to have your head at an upward angle.
The front desk is accommodating and usually pretty efficient.
I do think the self-parking system needs to change. The previous four times we went, self-parking was automatically charged to the room. This time, it was not, so we were not able to exit the facility. Luckily, there was a man by the exit who could take our payment and help us out. Somehow the system needs to be streamlined.
Overall, this has become one of our favorite places to relax, especially with a kid, so we will undoubtedly return.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0Jan 2, 2023Previous reviewWe stayed here for New Year's Eve 2022 into 2023. The hotel/resort is a cross between a Vegas hotel and the Texas State Fair. The hotel is enormous. There must have been thousands of people staying that night. There is a beautiful Atrium in the middle that has a walking trail, indoor water features and a stream, and faux rock formations. It was fun to walk around and look at everything.
In the convention center there were rides and games for the kids that reminded me of the State Fair (extra payment). We did the snowball throwing and the carousel. We also did the Merry Lights which is outside. We did not do ICE because it was too expensive and in any event was sold out.
Surrounding the Atrium are lots of restaurants, bars, shops and stores.
We did not even venture out to the heated pool or the pond. There is also a walking trail for next time.
Our room itself was very nice. The room was clean and comfortable.
The bathroom had a separate toilet/shower room from the sinks. The beds were very soft and comfortable. There were ample charging outlets and the hotel wi-fi was pretty fast. The door to the hallway is thick so there is minimal hallway noise. The door to the balcony that overlooked the Atrium was almost soundproof so when we close it, we heard very little noise from below. We had no problem with noise even on New Year's Eve so we were able to sleep.
Overall, we really enjoyed New Year's Eve stay here. The resort is perfect for Christmas and/or New Year's for families. I did not know what to expect but I was favorably impressed.
I would like to return and check out more that the resort has to offer.
In December 2022, there was a daily resort fee, I think $26.
Self-parking is $22 day. - Apr 13, 2024
We stayed here for one night on our last night in town and had a wonderful experience.
We started out our stay with a couples massage at the Relache Spa. Shelby at the desk and Blanca the locker room attendant were very welcoming and Magdalena the therapist was amazing. Magdalena was so kind and was very attentive and did an amazing massage and hair/scalp treatment for me. The spa amenities were great and we lingered to enjoy the steam room and showers after our massage.
Our room was very clean and the bed was so comfortable. The walk from the parking garage wasn't bad at all and it was nice that they had covered parking. We don't get a chance to use either of the pools but the outdoor pool looked amazing.
Susanna at the Marketplace was super sweet. She was very friendly and provided quick service. The coffee and pastries there were a nice afternoon treat.
We had dinner at Old Hickory and had mentioned in our reservation that we were celebrating our anniversary. Elesio made sure we were well taken care of and was very friendly and very kind. He even brought us complimentary glasses of champagne at the end of our meal and wished us a happy anniversary. When we opened our to-go dessert there was a special note included by the kitchen staff wishing us a happy anniversary.
We had brunch at the Riverwalk Cantina after we checked out and despite it being busy we only waited a short time and were seated promptly. Jennifer was very kind and attentive despite being very busy.
Austin in Security and Cindy in Cocoa Bean were also instrumental in making our stay so special. Special thanks to them for all their hard work.
We hope to be back the next time we are in town!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Apr 7, 20241 check-in
Beautiful resort!! Very nice/helpful employees. Check in was fast and she was very helpful in explaining the map/resort. She told us everything about the restaurants and how to get around.
In the car on the way in I used the chat feature and they responded very fast. Great feature! Much easier than trying to call and get the correct person!
They automatically upgraded up us to a suite with our platinum membership which we definitely appreciated. We got a great view right in the center and had a nice view of the little light show they do in the atrium. Don't worry if you are next to an elevator. You don't hear them at all. I can't say the same about loud/stomping guests above you! Asking for 9th floor next time.
We have no plans to leave the resort as they have everything you need and so far the restaurants have been excellent Room service is also very good! They gave me everything I asked for and then some, including extra butter and brown sugar for my oatmeal. Check out the photo of an order of oatmeal! Yes it comes with All of that
I haven't seen the pool area but my husband took a stroll while I was sleeping and said it was nice. We will be over at Glass Cactus for the eclipse viewing so I will report on a review of that restaurant.
So, Only 4 stars because housekeeping was cleaning carpet outside the door at 8 am which is totally unacceptable! Also the coffee shop was closed Saturday when we went down at 12 but we found the market was open and had Starbucks. But you can't get or use your rewards here. Overall, so far, its been very nice except the one housekeeping incident. I highly recommend staying here. I don't have young kids but it is a great place for families with a nice kids club. We went by and saw them having a canvas painting session and they were really helping the kids create nice paintings.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Mar 26, 20243 check-ins
Had a four night stay in the Vineyard Tower in March and it was great! Tried all the restaurants within the resort, worked out at the gym, used the jogging trail they mapped out, and had four restful nights.
This resort was HUGE! It was in the middle of an AEA convention so it was quite busy. My room was on the 9th floor so I didn't hear any noise throughout the night. The room was equipped with a mini fridge, coffee maker, free water, and a great view of the sunrise every morning.
I ate at the Texan Station (short rib tacos and steak and frites), Old Hickory Steakhouse (octopus and lobster mac and cheese), Zeppole (Frutti Di Mare), and Riverwalk Cantina primary for breakfast (breakfast tacos, omelette, eggs Benedict). I enjoyed all my meals with the exception of the steak frites (steak was overcooked).
Their gym is pretty big with lots of equipment and quite busy in the morning. There are two pools, an outdoor pool with a hot tub and an indoor pool that closes at 8 PM. There's also a spa on premises for massages and hair treatments.
There's also a waterpark that is a part of the hotel (although not connected) that was closed for the season. I believe your stay includes admission when the season is open. You can also find a few stores such as a market (where a microwave can be found), toy store, souvenir store, and other knick knacks.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Dec 29, 2023
This hotel is run by Marriott, so yay -- points! This is a big property, but was disappointed to see that it was not as big (or bigger) than the Opryland location (which apparently is the largest). Considering it is the Texas venue and there appeared to be ample land in the area, I figured this location could have ricaled Nashville.
Pool amenities are outdoors and a bit of a ways away from the main hotel. There is an indoor pool in the spa but no water slides. They seem to automatically charge 18% gratuity at the restaurants. Although pricey, we love the Gaylord hotels we have stayed in and would definitely come back to celebrate Christmas at this one.
PRO PARENT TIP: Go during the holiday season -- typically starts right before Thanksgiving and goes until NYE. The Christmas decorations are gorgeous!
PRO PARENT TIP: They open ICE and the Christmas Village amenities up 1 hr early for hotel guests.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Nov 24, 2023Updated review
Out here to support my friends daughter performing at the attached venue glass cactus. For those that haven't been here during the holidays,it's worth a trip at least once.
Today was packed with families from far and wide taking in the holidays. They organized many shows and activities to keep you going and several restaurants to fuel you.
Worth checking out.Helpful 58Thanks 11Love this 50Oh no 0Sep 22, 2015Previous reviewSpeaking from a visitors standpoint, this place is impressive. I had never been inside and was astounded by how vast it is. The atrium alone would hold a small neighborhood. The entire environment inside and out is attractive and well maintained.

Our family has made Christmas at the Gaylord Texan an annual tradition for 6 years!
This year was a fantastic experience including ICE: The Grinch.
We stayed overnight and enjoyed a meal at the Cantina Riverwalk as well. The decorations are spectacular, and the overall feeling really kicks off the holiday for the family!
The staff is exceptionally friendly, the service is helpful, and the rooms are comfortable with great views of the indoor atrium.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Dec 13, 2021Previous reviewEvery year we jump start the holiday season with a stay at the Gaylord Texan!
There is nothing quite like the immersive experience that is a Gaylord property. We never quite seem to take it all in, between the river walk, snacks, shopping and dining experiences there is so much to explore, taste and do.
The Christmas holiday includes snow tubing, snowball throwing, ice skating, painting, gingerbread cookie decorating and spectacular indoor and outdoor Christmas moments and events like: ICE, I Love Christmas Movies, or ELF Saving Christmas. An enormous tree in the center of the property and thousands of lights, decorations and Instagramable scenes around every corner.
The rooms are comfortable and spacious with various layout options to fit any combination of family or friends. - May G.Frisco, TX12233830Apr 2, 2024
I came here for the Weebcon anime convention. The location is very beautiful and great for pictures!

I stayed at the Gaylord Texan for a work conference. Before booking, I didn't really know anything about the Gaylord brand except hearing the name "Gaylord Palms" (their location in Florida). After doing a little research, I discovered that this was a comprehensive resort, convention center, and somewhat of a destination in the DFW area. Like most of my hotel reviews, I'm going to break this down into pros and cons, so here we go!
Let's start with the pros. Gaylord is a brand that's owned by Marriott, so you're able to manage your stay through the Bonvoy app and collect points if you're a member. This made it easy for me to check in/check out and explore the amenities. Gaylord itself has its own separate app which contains a resort map and a list of amenities as well. I would call location a plus here - the resort is located in Grapevine, and even though you're not in Dallas proper it's a 30-minute drive away and only about 15 minutes from the airport. I also heard that Grapevine itself has a main commercial street with shops and restaurants, but I didn't explore them.
Aesthetics are also a plus here - the main resort area is housed under a large skylight which bring a lot of natural light in and gives the feeling you're outdoors. There's also a lot of eye candy in terms of decor, accents, areas of the main lobby, and Texas aesthetics. Amenities are another pro; the resort has multiple shops, restaurants, bars, walking/running trails, as well as a spa, nightclub, business center, and waterpark (all in addition to the namesake convention center). The resort caters to both people who are here for vacation *and* those who are here for work.
For cons, I have to say location again since this may not be the ideal place to stay if you want to spend the majority of your time in Dallas. I know if I was visiting DFW for pleasure, I would rather stay downtown. The aesthetics outside of the main lobby area are tired and dated - the resort opened in 2004, and the convention area and rooms definitely give off that early 2000s look. The hallways and rooms especially could use some freshening up. The walls are also thin - I was able to hear conversation and the TV in the rooms adjacent to me. I also think some quality control needs to happen in the rooms - my safe had a low battery warning which made me hesitant to store anything in there.
To close out, I need to give kudos to the staff. Everyone at the resort was super friendly and really enhanced my stay. Overall, I'm pretty lukewarm when it comes to the Gaylord Texan; they were great hosts, have a lot of amenities, and you can really just stay on property the entire time and be entertained. I don't think I would stay here on my own if visiting DFW, but I wouldn't be disappointed to attend another conference here.Helpful 12Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 1 - Sep 4, 2023
They definitely wowed us!!!!
I couldn't go 10 stars because they don't offer it. My reservation was accurate down allergies family... pillows were foam ... We always double triple check. Luckily we travel with EpiPens in case of a mistake.
I reached out to Dylan on the management side of things to explain the reason for visit... wife birthday weekend and we brought the kids... He and his team set up chocolate covered bacon and cake & gummy bears as we checked into our room and I got bonus points from the wife! She definitely felt special. I am very pleased with the decision to stay here. From the check in with a nice staff down front. We felt valued and the hospitality was super top notch! All team members should be commended!!!!
The cleaning crew was awesome they greeted us as we walked by and were very generous.
They serviced our room so very lightning fast... Super nice to our daughters as well.
The stay was peaceful and vibrant Every time we entered our room!
The bathroom was legit...the double sink and mirror had a luxurious feel...
I will look to stay with them again if the price is right. We got a great special. (booked early) I feel that it was a great value! Thank you Marriott for the hospitality.
They even had multiple things for us to do. Get steps in walking the property. Popcorn and lemonade and kids movie in the designated area. Arcade, outdoor pool, indoor pool, paradise springs. The Mexican restaurant. The sports bar... I could keep going.
This place has a price... But the convenience is way worth it in my perspective.
I didn't have to worry about getting in the car and taking a journey.... It was all right here for us.
We will have you on first check for the next stay when we return to the area.
Respectfully,
A very pleased Bonvoy Member (if anyone READs these)
