Went here for dinner, food was very good and service was good. really enjoyed the plates and bowl designs. First altercation came when i recieved my 17$ cocktail it was only half full!! And then when it came to dessert they simply pile the tiramisu ingredients up in front of you with a light drizzle of coffee. Absolute murder, it doesnt even soak in coffee its just a pile. Unheard of...

What a fantastic dining experience! As a place that we'd bookmarked for a long time, we finally stopped by for lunch and indulged.
Started off with the grilled octopus (highly recommend) and moved along to our main course- the funghi w/pasta ripiena (a prosciutto and buratta wonder) was everyone's favorite, the lumache w/arrabbiatissima and shrimp was absolutely delish with an actual spicy kick to balance out the acidity, the pappardelle al brasato di manzo and pappardelle al cinghiale were very flavorful. The portion sizes were quite large and we ended taking to go boxes for all 4 entrees to make room for dessert.
Their fresh tiramisu assembled table side was polished off in no time, while the littles shared a cozy Cantuccio al Forno and I thoroughly enjoyed a scoop of the dark chocolate gelato.
Service was prompt and efficient, our water glasses were never empty and the yummy complimentary focaccia kept coming while we waited for our order.
My only regret after dining here is not having visited sooner....highly recommend visiting this gem!Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Apr 13, 2024Updated review
Cesarina is a cute spot with a patio area at entrance, has good ambiance & decor inside and out. We reserved through Yelp! and upon arrival were seated quickly.
Our host and server were nice and throughout our dinner server was very attentive with water and checking in.
We sat next to the pasta making station, so we watched pasta being made throughout our meal.
Ordered: fungi gnocchi-the pasta was like butter, mushrooms were really flavorful and delicious! My husband ordered Arrabbitissima (fresh tomorrow sauce w/ pork, burrata & parsley), which was also very flavorful and spicy! We ordered Side Polpette, for appetizer very most & flavorful. For dessert my husband ordered their Tiramisu. He really liked it, they pour the coffee over the top at the table. Yum!
The had many vegan options which was also appreciated.
Everything was great, their drinks were delicious too! I had a Spritzer & my husband opted for Whiskey.
Make this your next date night or girls night out!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Apr 4, 2024Previous reviewPastalicious! This place is so yummy and fresh. Choose this place for a date night with my husband and it did not disappoint.
Ordered: Gnocchi w/ Funghi, tiramisu and pasta w/ red sauce. Both were really good and flavorful.
Service: our server was good and attentive, she kept our glasses full and checked in often.
Atmosphere was really nice and it had a romantic vibe, really enjoyed the fresh pasta!
Patio area was pretty and would be great for girls night or date night. - Apr 9, 20241 check-in
For weeknights, the two reservation times offered were 4pm or 9pm. We tried the carpaccio, two entrees, two glasses of chianti, and tiramisu with coffee. Total came out to about $164 without tip, so I'm curious to see how it compares to their sister restaurant Elvira or other local Italian eateries. Service was fine, and they checked in on us enough througout ordering.
Food wise, I enjoyed the gnocchi with truffle sauce, and the carpaccio was filling. The tiramisu was unexpectedly served tableside, but paired well with black coffee. If you don't valet, there's guest parking across the street until 4:30 or neighborhood parking.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 95162319Apr 22, 2024
Been wanting to try Cesarina for at least 2 years now but they're always booked. I highly suggest to make reservations first! We got super lucky with a table with the help of Milan, who is the absolute best. Food was incredible, very authentic and fresh. The gnocchi with the tartufona sauce was to die for. Extremely creamy, with a hint of truffle which was not overpowering. I absolutely loved all the other dishes as well. It can be a pricey meal, especially with the $17 plus a cocktail, but that's everywhere in SD.
Only thing I wasn't too impressed with was the bread. It was delicious but would have been way better if it was warmed.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Apr 23, 2024
Beautiful restaurant delicious food great service. I had a Splash Italiano off their cocktail menu- delightful, bread was already at the table, ordered the bolognese and the highlight of the meal was the tiramisú made at the table it was such a treat. Highly recommend reservations as it is busy.

The first time I ate here with my girlfriend was 2 years ago and we both said it was our favorite Italian restaurant in San Diego. Tonight, we came back for the second time and it tastes just as good as it did the first time we visited.
We made a reservation around 5:45 pm beforehand and was seated outside since there was no option to dine inside. It was pretty busy already inside and outside the restaurant. We were given complimentary focaccia bread with salsa which tasted great. We were also given complimentary wine since it was our anniversary! Our servers were super friendly, they kept checking in with us, and made us feel comfortable throughout our dinner.
For our starter, the polpo croccante was perfectly cooked. The grilled octopus was crispy on the outside and so tender on the inside it was mouthwatering for sure. I ordered the rigatoni funghi which I really enjoyed. The rigatoni noodle itself was cooked well, the sauce was delicious, and the mushrooms complimented the sauce and dish without overtaking the taste of the cream. My girlfriend had the pappardelle bolognese and she enjoyed it as well. The seasoning on the noodles made it delicious and she said the meatballs was her favorite part about the dish.
Overall, this place serves an authentic taste of Italian food and I would recommend this restaurant to any newcomers coming into SD. We will be back again. Thank you for having us on our anniversary!!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Apr 1, 2024
This is some of the best Italian food you can get in San Diego and the hype is well deserved. What are all the good things.... service? Excellent, even on busy dinnertime. Reservations are definitely recommended. The plates? So cute. The food? All excellent.
Recommendations: Paccheri Vodka & Scampi, Carpaccio, Polpo Croccante, whatever pasta with ArrabbiatissimaHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 44150345Mar 26, 2024
An amazing meal from start to finish! We are visiting from Los Angeles and Cesarina will forever be on the list the next time we are in SD.
The food was sooo good - some of the best handmade pastas to choose from, and you pair it with the sauce of your choice, along with optional add on toppings. Super cool concept. The only bad thing is that i couldn't try them all. We ended up going with the pomodoro with ravioli and funghi (cream based) with fettuccine and we loved them both. Appetizers were amazing too, with the octopus being the star of the show. Ended the meal with table side tiramisu. Save room for this, you won't regret it.
Service was great all around, from our server to the many other folks that checked on us through the meal. We sat in the patio and it was lovely and charming.
This place surely lives up to the high rating!Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 0
