The University of Louisville Alumni Awards are the highest honor bestowed by Louisville Alumni. These awards recognize distinguished graduates who are exemplary ambassadors for the university and their college or school. Recipients reflect the high standing and character of their alma mater. The program honors and celebrates the exceptional and diverse achievements of our alumni.

Wilson Wyatt Alumnus(a) of the Year Award

The recipient of this award is an exceptional graduate who is distinguished in their field, in service, and in support to the university. This individual has demonstrated leadership in professional and philanthropic endeavors and has shown loyalty and support to the university as a whole. The honoree personifies the qualities, mission, and values of the university.

Wilson Wyatt Sr. graduated from the University of Louisville in 1927. Wyatt was a former attorney while also serving as Louisville mayor, Kentucky Lieutenant Governor and chairman of UofL’s Board of Trustees. Wyatt’s service and philanthropic support of the university are honored through the distribution of this award annually.


Alumni Fellow Awards

This award category recognizes alumni who have honored their school through their professional achievements as well as their loyalty and support to their school or college. This award is presented to outstanding individuals for their impact in leadership, business, community, education, and/or philanthropic endeavors. 


Diversity Leadership Award

This award honors an alumnus(a) who has demonstrated leadership in promoting diversity and inclusion through their professional and/or volunteer endeavors. This individual raises awareness for under-represented populations and has a deep commitment to causes of diversity, equity, and inclusion. The achievements support the university’s goal of being the premier anti-racist metropolitan research university.


Emerging Leader Award

This award recognizes an alumnus(a) 40 years of age and younger for their outstanding professional accomplishments at an early age.


Military Alumni Award

This award is presented annually to an alum who is a current serving member of the U.S. military or who is a veteran, who has distinguished themselves while serving in the U.S. military and/or in their post-service careers, and who are exemplary ambassadors for the university. Self-nominations are accepted.
