District 3 Accomplishments

Route 180-130 in Montoursville Borough; Loyalsock, Fairfield, and Muncy townships

This is a two-year roadway resurface project of 6.5 miles of Interstate 180 from just west of Route 2049 (Lycoming Mall Road) in Muncy Township to Warrensville Road in Loyalsock Township. Work on this project includes mill and resurface of 6.5 miles of Interstate 180, bridge preservation work on 16 structures including deck patching and applying epoxy overlays, highway lighting work at the Broad Street and Fairfield Road interchanges, as well as guide rail, line painting, and miscellaneous work.

Work began on the project in the spring of 2023 with the removal of epoxy on 10 bridges, repair of the right-of-way fences throughout the project area, and drainage work. Milling and resurfacing of the roadway began in early June and was completed in the fall 2023.

Work on this project is expected to be completed in the summer of 2024, with a winter shut down.

State Route 199-010

This multi-year reconstruction of 2.6-miles of Route 199 from the New York state line in Sayre Borough to just north of the Norfolk Southern Railroad tracks (near the Agway) in Athens Borough, began in the fall of 2020.

Work on Stages 6 and 5 began in June of 2023. Work planned this season includes:

Stage 6, between Woodworth Street and Chemung Street, Sayre Borough began in the spring of 2023. Work will be completed in half widths with the southbound traffic using Route 199 and the northbound traffic detoured onto various routes as the construction phases progress.

Stage 5, between Chemung Street and Lincoln Street, Athens Borough began in mid-summer of 2023. Work will be completed in half widths with the southbound traffic using Route 199 and the northbound traffic detoured onto various routes as the construction phases progress.

The reconstruction project includes new curbing, ADA accommodations at intersections (where appropriate), improved drainage, signal upgrades at three intersections, utility upgrades, new paving, and line painting.

Work is expected to be completed in the fall of 2024.

Route 15-88D

This is the first of three primary contracts for the Central Susquehanna Valley Transportation (CSVT) Project's Southern Section. This $115 million contract includes 4.5 million cubic yards of earthwork for the new section of Route 15 between Selinsgrove and Winfield. The Southern Section will tie into the recently opened Northern Section of CSVT which connects Route 15 near Winfield, Union County to Route 147 near Montandon, Northumberland County.

This contract includes installing drainage throughout the project, constructing erosion and sediment pollution control structures, constructing one new bridge over a local road, constructing three box culverts, and realigning a few local roads. Work began in Summer 2022 and is anticipated to be completed in 2025.

In July of 2023, work began on two roundabouts on Mill and App Roads, including the realignment of Airport Road. Construction of the bridge that will carry Sunbury Road over the new CSVT began and is expected to be completed in the winter of 2023.

In September of 2023, bids were submitted for the second contract for Southern Section, which includes constructing nine new bridges and four noise walls. The apparent low bid of $106.4 million was submitted by Walsh Construction Company II, LLC of Chicago, Illinois. Work on these structures is expected to begin in early 2024 with completion anticipated by early 2026.

The third and final contract is for paving the project and is tentatively scheduled to be let by early 2026. The Southern Section of CSVT is expected to be opened to traffic in late 2027.
