Project Description: This project will be the area's first Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) line and will serve as the central route of the region's transit system connecting North Baton Rouge, downtown, and the LSU campus by providing high-quality, high-frequency, and high-capacity transit service. Project goals are to address transportation needs of residents and workers, support neighborhood revitalization and economic development, and enhance multimodal connections by integrating BRT with existing and future transit network, bicycle facilities, and pedestrian network. This project has incorporated the project limits and scope of the Florida Blvd. Segment 1 (I110 - N22nd) and Plank Rd. (N22nd - US61) Segment 1 Corridor Enhancement Projects listed under MOVEBR.

Project Updates

Date Status
03/2024 The project is advertised for construction. Bids will be opened 9 April 2024, subject to any addendums.
02/2024 Final plans are submitted by the design consultant. Construction Advertisement package being prepared. Required ROW acquisitions and utility coordination is underway.
01/2024 Final plans are nearly complete by the design consultant. Required ROW acquisitions and utility coordination is underway.
11/2023 Final plans are being developed by the consultant.
03/2023 The Design Consultant has submitted its 98% final design plans for roadway, and has completed 100% final design plans for the North Transfer Center. Right-of-way mapping is underway.
05/2021 The Design Consultant is preparing the design study and performing topographic survey field work. A public meeting will be held at the conclusion of the design study phase.
