Peer support to ensure recovery
As “experts by experience”, peers are uniquely placed to connect with, and relate to, people going through a challenging time because of their first-hand knowledge, which lends to becoming compassionate listeners, advocates, partners, mentors, educators and coaches (WHO).
Advocacy for better mental health care
As end-users of mental health service, we, members of the Mental Health Service Users Association (MHSUA), play an important advocacy role as catalyst for change and improvement of mental health care and services in Ethiopia
Awareness creation on mental health conditions
Members of MHSUA have a unique function in reducing stigma and discrimination as they have in-depth experience on the impact of living with a mental health condition. Their story is an inspiration for many to change attitudes and societal systems.
We focus on service users’ ability and not the disability!
