Brinton joined the Tornado staff prior to the 2021-22 season and guided the Tornado to a pair of solid seasons. In his first year, King set 16 school records, eight coming for each the men and the women.

Year-by-Year Season Recaps
2021-22:Â King finished the season with a dual record of 2-6 and took fourth at the Conference Carolinas Men's Swimming & Diving Championships. The Tornado earned All-Conference Carolinas honors in the 200 yard, 400 yard and 800 yard freestyle relays as well as the 400 yard medley relay. Jan Kuljak was the individual conference champion in the 200 yard freestyle and set an NCAA B cut time. Kuljak also earned third team all-conference honors in teh 500 yard freestyle. Dale Bruce earned second team all-conference in the 200 yard individual medley and garnered third team honors in the 100 yard butterfly and 200 yard breaststroke. Gideon Bezuidnehout earned third team all-conference honors in the 200 yard individual medley.

Year-by-Year Season Recaps
2021-22: The Tornado finished the season with a 1-7 mark in dual meets and took fifth at the Conference Carolinas Women's Swimming & Diving Championships. Jamie Edwards finished runner-up in the 50 yard freestyle while Ashley Woods finished third in each the 1000 yard freestyle and 1650 yard freestyle. King set eight school records throughout the season.
Prior to King
He joined the Emory & Henry staff in 2020, serving as the recruiting coordinator. Along with that, he led the distance training group and advised all the Wasps workouts. Brinton also designed and implemented dry land and injury prevention programs for the Wasps.
Prior to his time at Emory & Henry, Brinton served as the lead coach for the 12-14 and 15-18 age groups for the Eagle Swim Team for nearly three years. While there he managed a staff of eight coaches and 125 athletes. He developed and implemented training plans and group structures.
Personal
Brinton graduated from Towson University in 2017 with degrees in sociology, anthropology, and criminal justice. He still owns top 10 times in school history in the 50 yard freestyle as well as the 100 and 200 yard backstroke. He also owns the freshman record in the 100 yard backstroke.
