Leigh Jorgeson

Managing Partner

Leigh is passionate about helping clients build and protect their families. This work includes traditional and second-parent adoptions, establishing parental rights for same-sex couples, legal agreements related to fertility law and the assisted reproduction process, estate planning documents, and pre-marital and marital property agreements.

Fertility Law

Leigh has extensive experience, both personally and professionally, in helping individuals and couples navigate the legal issues surrounding the assisted reproduction process. Leigh drafts fertility agreements (including gestational carrier agreements, embryo/egg donation agreements, sperm donation agreements, reciprocal IVF agreements, etc.) Leigh is extremely passionate about this area of law. Leigh also has extensive experience helping individuals and couples with the surrogacy and gestational carrier process. She also helps clients obtain pre-birth orders and post-birth parentage orders and adoption orders.

Family Law

Leigh is also dedicated to helping families navigate the legal system during difficult times such as divorces and child custody disputes. She cares deeply for her clients and works hard to help clients through what is often one of the most difficult and important times in their lives. Although Leigh is a strong advocate for her clients in the courtroom, she also believes that resolving matters outside of the courtroom can often better serve clients’ emotional and financial needs.

Over a Decade of LGBT Advocacy

One of the driving forces behind Leigh's desire to start JORGESON PITTMAN LLP was her personal experience with her own family. Leigh's own experiences and convictions have helped her be at the forefront of legal advocacy for LGBT families in Texas. Prior to Texas recognizing same sex marriage, Leigh represented numerous same-sex custody and divorce clients throughout the state, helping to make appellate case-law that supports same-sex parentage rights in Texas. After the US Supreme Court ruling in Oberfefell v. Hodges in 2015, Leigh was instrumental in forcing the State of Texas to list both spouses in married same-sex couples on the birth certificate of children born during their marriage. And since that time, Leigh has been a pioneer in obtaining adjudications of parentage for children born to same-sex couples.
