Fly Like A Girl Lands In Puerto Rico

On Saturday, May 21, we brought our Fly Like A Girl event to Puerto Rico for the first time! Forty girls, ages 8 to 16, joined our team in San Juan to learn about careers in aviation, meet our Crewmembers, and ask questions about what it’s like to work at JetBlue. The event also coincided with San Juan’s upcoming anniversary: May 30 marks 20 years since we began flying to the Puerto Rican capital! Our special Puerto Rico-themed livery, Bluericua, was on hand, as were many of our bilingual crew.

2020 Rapid Response Grants

We proudly support aviation and science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education—and the pandemic has not gotten in the Foundation’s way. Over the past year, the JetBlue Foundation has stepped up to issue a round of emergency grants to 12 aviation and STEM education grantees and partners that were in need of financial support so that they could continue their critical work reaching students and communities traditionally underrepresented in these fields. The pandemic has severely affected funding for non-profits and education programs, and the JetBlue Foundation saw an immediate need.

Education Isn’t Always Top of Mind After Natural Disasters, But It Should Be

When natural disasters strike, people and corporations are generous, donating millions of dollars worth of food, medicines and other needed supplies. But often, in the urgency to address immediate life-threatening realities, the long-term needs of rebuilding communities are overlooked. JetBlue and the JetBlue Foundation have invested in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education programs on the island for many years, as part of their focus on building a more diverse pipeline for the aviation industry.
