First Baptist Church of Homestead is seeking a bi-vocational minister of music. The responsibilities are as follows:
· Work with the pastor to plan and lead music for Sunday worship services, including congregational singing, special music and choir.
· Train members to become participants/leaders in musical worship at FBCH.
· Plan and conduct rehearsals.
· Plan and lead services for special events like Christmas, Easter, or revival.
· Occasionally plan concerts.
· Oversee the various musical ensembles at FBCH.
· Maintain CCLI license.
· Ensure that equipment is maintained (Primarily the tuning of the pianos)
· Represent music ministry at church council meetings. (3-4 times per year)
We are prayerfully seeking someone who will meet the following qualifications:
Spiritual qualifications
· A vibrant relationship with Christ, demonstrated by strong Christian character.
· A commitment to prayer.
· A dedication to the Word of God.
· Sound doctrine. (Agreement with our confessional statement.)
· Commitment to the local church.
Musical qualifications
· Musical proficiency. Must be able to read music and have a suitable knowledge of music theory. Experience in a choral group is preferred.
· An ability to lead congregational worship.
· A willingness to learn and introduce new Christ-exalting songs.
· The ability to utilize worship technologies like Media Shout.
· The ability to efficiently run rehearsals.
· An ability to lead worship of varying styles.
Other qualifications
· A biblical understanding of worship.
· An ability to identify, enlist, train, and work with volunteers.
· Strong organizational skills.
· A commitment to excellence for the glory of God.
· The ability to prepare and administer a music ministry budget.
· The ability to resolve conflict biblically.
· An understanding of the importance of unity and love within the body of Christ.
