Darren J. Holst

Darren J. HolstDarren Holst is a partner with the Pennsylvania family law firm of Howett, Kissinger & Holst, PC. He focuses his practice on matrimonial law.

Darren handles cases including complex divorce, child custody, and child support. He frequently finds himself in trial and appellate courts protecting the rights of his clients.

Previously, Darren served as the clerk to the Honorable Samuel A. Kline of the Court of Common Pleas of Lebanon County. He also serves as an Adjunct Professor at Harrisburg Area Community College, where he instructs paralegals on areas including legal research, writing, ethics, and core substantive law including contracts, torts, criminal law, real property, business law, and family law.

Darren is known by other family law attorneys throughout Pennsylvania for his frequent lectures at the Pennsylvania Bar Institute, the Pennsylvania Bar Association, and the Dauphin County Bar Association. He has addressed issues including basic family law, property distribution in Pennsylvania, custody, drafting marital settlements, and “dealing with dirty tricks in divorce.” Darren has also published numerous articles, including such topics as custody, support, divorce, case law updates, discovery, and equitable distribution.

Service to the legal community is important to Darren, as is shown through his activities with the Pennsylvania Bar Association and the Dauphin County Bar Association. He is on the PBA’s Governing Council and a member of the Family Law Section’s Executive Committee and Legislative Committee. In addition he was Chair of the DCBA Family Law Section and a Member of its Board of Directors. Darren works for his community by serving the Amelia Givin Community Library where he was a member of the Library Expansion Committee. For his efforts and experience as an attorney, Darren has been honored with the distinction of Rising Star of Pennsylvania Super Lawyers numerous times, including 2008, and 2010 through 2012.

Licensed in both Pennsylvania and New Jersey, Darren obtained his undergraduate degree from West Virginia University, magna cum laude, and his juris doctorate from the Dickinson School of Law. He is married to Jessica, who is also a local family law attorney, and has a son, Alexander.
