Family and Community Engagement
The Division of Family and Community Engagement (FACE) is an essential bridge between Henrico County Public Schools and the broader community. At the core of its mission is the integration of the community school framework, ensuring a comprehensive approach to education that extends beyond the traditional classroom setting. FACE strives to create a collaborative ecosystem where schools, families, and the community work together to create a supportive and enriching educational environment. By emphasizing both family and community engagement, the division promotes a holistic approach to student achievement and supportive family structures. Key components of the Division of Family and Community Engagement include:
Community Partnerships: Cultivating collaborative relationships with community organizations and stakeholders to enrich the educational experience and provide diverse opportunities for students.
Family Resource Center: Serving as a hub for families to access valuable resources, information, and support services that contribute to their active involvement in their child's education.
Henrico Heroes Mentoring Program: Facilitating mentorship opportunities that connect students with positive role models from the community, fostering personal and academic growth.
After School Programming (including 21st Century Community Learning Center Sites): Offering enriching and structured activities beyond regular school hours, enhancing the overall learning experience, and supporting families in balancing work and childcare responsibilities.

All-Together Tuesdays

Join us in 2023-24 for All-Together Tuesdays! Each month, Henrico County Public Schools’ Division of Family and Community Engagement will host an evening to connect with Henrico friends and neighbors from 5-7 p.m. Using your input, we’ve put together a fun series of events and workshops for everyone!

Bridge Builders Academy
Henrico County Public Schools’ Bridge Builders Academy features virtual gatherings and discussions on a host of topics — many related to predominantly virtual learning. Our “Community Conversations” panel discussions about racial equity and change was a popular and powerful addition to the series. The Bridge Builders Academy is presented by HCPS’ Department of Family and Community Engagement and the HCPS Family and Educator Resource Center. HCPS Rolling Resource Center
Since its debut in July 2017, our rolling resource center has provided students and families with books, “make-and-take” activities, information about exceptional education and other resources. Check back for updates about resource center appearances.
Community Learning Center hubs
Our Community Learning Center initiative leads to improved student learning, stronger families and healthier communities. Henrico County Public Schools has partnered with the Henrico Education Foundation to transform schools into hubs where children and families have onsite support from community partners at their disposal. CLC hubs provide an integrated focus on academics, health services, social services, youth and community development, and community engagement. The hubs provide a wealth of opportunities and resources to give students and parents the tools they need to learn and grow.
Our current CLC hub sites — Glen Lea and Ratcliffe elementary schools, and L. Douglas Wilder Middle School — offer personalized curricula that emphasize real-world learning and community problem-solving. What are some of the benefits of Community Learning Center hubs?
