Yes. Please utilize the summer program application for internal employees.

    6. I am a HCPS employee. Do I submit the same application as external candidates?

No. Please utilize the internal application. External applicants will utilize the external application.

    7. Will I be considered for a program or position in which I did not indicate I am interested?

No. Summer program coordinators only review applications that are submitted for their designated program. Apply to each position/program for which you would like to be considered.

    8. My application status still says “New Applicant.” Does that mean that it has not yet been reviewed?

While your application status is “New Applicant,” it HAS been reviewed. Since we have multiple program coordinators reviewing applications for their programs, we do not change applications statuses for these positions until all hiring has been completed. Since our staffing needs change due to enrollment, we continue working to fill a number of positions throughout the summer.

    9. Will I be notified if I am not being hired? When?

Offers of employment are ongoing as enrollment and changes occur. Hiring can take place throughout the summer. If you wish to inquire about a potential position, please contact the Program Coordinator.

    10. Will I be considered for a position if I cannot work all of the program dates?

No. Employment is contingent upon your ability to work all program dates.

    11. What is HB 486 and does it apply to me?

Effective July 1, 2019, with the passage of Maryland House Bill 486, all applicants of Harford County Public Schools are required to undergo a Child Sexual Abuse/Misconduct review. House Bill 486 states as follows: The definition of “direct contact with minors” means “the possibility of care, supervision, guidance or control of a minor or routine interaction with a minor.” Only external applicants who have had direct contact with minors at previous employers will be subject to House Bill 486 if hired. You will hear from a Human Resources representative if this applies to you.
