2023 generational learning grant recipients and upcoming workforce development grant cycle

$4.1M in grants to support working families

To support Texas communities, businesses and working families, Texas Mutual has awarded $4.1 million in grants to 62 organizations through its Request for Proposal (RFP) initiative focused on generational learning. Nonprofits were invited to apply between April 17 and May 26, and after an extensive review process, Texas Mutual selected 62 organizations across the state for their efforts in:

  • Improving the health and wellness of Texas workers and their families by providing access to quality care and health education
  • Strengthening the early childhood education system by ensuring child care providers have the resources needed to deliver access to affordable, quality education for Texas families
  • Providing holistic wrap around support for clients in addition to case management to ensure families have the resources they need to seize opportunities

To review grant applications, Texas Mutual trained over 70 employee volunteers to review applications based on several criteria, including evaluating each of the organizations for their work in the generational learning space and alignment with our commitment to build a stronger, safer Texas. Throughout our review, our community affairs team worked to ensure that our funding was distributed throughout the state and supported underserved communities.

Workforce development and safety training grants

Through our second RFP initiative this year, Texas Mutual will distribute an additional $4 million to Texas nonprofit organizations. Applications will open at 8 a.m. CDT on Monday, August 21, and will close at 11:59 p.m. CDT on Friday, September 29.

For this grant cycle, we’re looking for organizations focused on:

  • Training the current and future skilled workforce in safe work practices, especially in industries or occupations at higher risk for workplace accidents
  • Creating strong pathways for in-demand, middle-skill jobs
  • Upskilling and reskilling adult learners using earn-and-learn initiatives
