For Those To Come …

In an ever-changing landscape of college athletics, the departments which recognize, welcome, and adapt to moments of change often enjoy the most success – Virginia Tech Athletics stands on the precipice of an extraordinary future and, with your support, can face the challenges head-on.

As the Hokies look to the future, there are incredible opportunities on the horizon for those to come, and now is the time to continue building on the momentum created by those who have passed.

Shaping student-athletes into champions today while molding them into leaders for tomorrow presents immense challenges and requires bold, strategic planning. To meet the challenges of today and the future, the department is launching its most ambitious fundraising campaign ever — a $400 million initiative called Reach for Excellence that impacts every sport and every future student-athlete at Virginia Tech and stands as part of the university's wider $1.5 billion Boundless Impact campaign.

The stakes are incredibly high, both for Hokie sports and the entire university that benefits from athletics: gameday energy in Blacksburg bolsters Hokie Nation and alumni loyalty, drives student enrollment, enriches the campus experience, generates national awareness of the university, and yields a regional annual economic impact of up to $100 million.

As a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference, Virginia Tech is poised to be a major force on the college athletics scene. With the launch of Reach for Excellence, the athletics department is asking for support from all of Hokie Nation to fund scholarships, renovate and build facilities, bring additional assets to all sports, and most importantly, help provide the resources to continue making Virginia Tech student-athletes champions in every phase of life.

With your investment and support, our goal is within reach.

WHO IS INVOLVED?

In short, all of Hokie Nation is encouraged to participate! Hokies give to those they care about, embodying the spirit of Ut Prosim. Virginia Tech student-athletes are not only great at their respective sports, but they also make a difference on a local, regional and national level by giving back to their communities and through their future career paths. To continue molding these world changers, Virginia Tech Athletics needs for all fans, alumni, faculty, staff, students, family and friends to be a part of Reach for Excellence. This is a great – and vitally important – opportunity to make an impact for your favorite school and teams.

WHAT IS REACH FOR EXCELLENCE?

Reach for Excellence is a capital fundraising campaign for Virginia Tech Athletics and is part of the university’s total $1.5 billion Boundless Impact campaign. Virginia Tech Athletics aims to raise $400 million to fund major initiatives such as scholarship support, facilities upgrades, a full renovation of Cassell Coliseum, and a football enhancement fund designed to amplify all areas within the football program.

WHEN DOES THIS START AND WHEN DOES IT END?

Reach for Excellence actually began when the university announced the Boundless Impact campaign in October of 2019. Everyone can contribute as many times as they want, with the campaign slated to end in December 2027.

WHY GIVE?

Building championship-caliber athletics programs - with aspirations that match the passion and expectations of Hokie Nation - requires two things: a bold plan and a greater financial investment. Athletic Director Whit Babcock and Virginia Tech President Tim Sands are committed to a vision for the future of athletics, and we are now turning to Hokie Nation for support. Reach for Excellence is the biggest fundraising initiative ever launched by Virginia Tech Athletics, and every gift makes an impact - one that will be felt for generations to come.
