2023 - Woods started in a program record 17 games for the Lions serving as the ace ... Finished with a 10-3 record, 3.71 ERA and 1.13 WHIP from 99.1 innings with 109 strikeouts, 25 walks and opponent hit .236 against him.
2022 - Woods got the starting nod in 13 games for the Lions ... Finished the season with a 3-5 record in 62 innings of work, had 73 strikeouts with only 27 walks issued with opponents hitting .292 against him and helped the Lions to a shutout.
2021 - Woods appeared in 20 games for the Lions as a relief pitcher ... Posted a 1-1 record in 33.1 innings of work striking out 40 and picking up four saves on the season.
2020 - Woods pitched in nine games for the Lions starting in three... Posted a 2-1 record after 21.2 innings of work after allowing 11 runs (9 earned) on 18 hits with nine walks and 18 strikeouts while maintaining a 3.74 ERA... Defensively posted a 1.000 fielding percentage with an assists... One of 17 Lions to land on the MIAA Academic Honor Roll.
2019 – Wood pitched in seven games with two complete games … He posted a 0-1 record and had 14.1 innings of work where he allowed 14 runs (13 earned) on 20 hits with seven walks and 16 strikeouts. He maintained an 8.16 ERA through 70 batters faced… he had an 1.000 fielding percentage with five assists.
Prior to Southern - Woods comes to Southern from Verdigris (Okla.) High School where he was a two-year letter winner for coach Brian Keith and the Cardinals ... As a senior, Woods was 10-0 with 93 strikeouts and a 0.92 ERA, earning All-Conference, All-District and All-State honors, while being named his Conference Pitcher of the Year ... In his career, Woods finished with 155 strikeouts and a 1.78 ERA, while helping Verdigris to a State Championship in 2016 and appearances in the State Tournament all four years with a runner-up finish in 2017 and a semifinal appearance in 2018.Â
Personal -Â Woods is the son of Larry and Jennifer Woods and is undecided on his future major at Southern.
