Making a difference in the world could be as simple as signing your name. Because that’s all it takes to become a registered organ donor in New York. Right now New York State ranks last among all the states for registered organ donors. That’s a number that has to change. And we can change it together!

The Donation Situation

  • More than 103,000 people are currently waiting for organ transplants, nearly 8,000 are in New York.
  • Every 18 hours, a New Yorker dies waiting for a lifesaving transplant.
  • New York ranks 50th out of 50 states in percentage of residents registered as organ donors.
  • Only 45% of New Yorkers are registered organ donors.
  • One organ donor can save up to eight lives.
