  • More than 103,000 people are currently waiting for organ transplants, nearly 8,000 are in New York.
  • Every 18 hours, a New Yorker dies waiting for a lifesaving transplant.
  • New York ranks 50th out of 50 states in percentage of residents registered as organ donors.
  • Only 45% of New Yorkers are registered organ donors.

Annual Event That Changes Lives 
Stony Brook Participates in Organ Donor Enrollment Day every October.

Hundreds of generous people sign up each year to make a difference in the lives of others by committing to organ donation. Each enrollment has the potential to save more than eight lives.

Enrollment Day takes place at Stony Brook University Hospital and at Stony Brook University.
