About the Instructional Facilitator / LEAD Teacher program

Instructional Facilitator / LEAD Teacher, M.Ed.

The Master of Education: Instructional Facilitator / Lead Teacher program is a 30-hour licensure program designed for current teachers desiring to enhance their classroom teaching and leadership role. Candidates will demonstrate competency through performance and will participate in authentic field experiences that allow them to demonstrate proficiency in the Arkansas Teacher Leader Model Standards in K-12 settings. Unconditional admission into Graduate Studies and a current teaching license in any area of licensure for grades P-12 are required. It is incumbent upon students from other states to determine the licensing requirements in their state.

The Master of Education: Instructional Facilitator/LEAD Teacher program is a 30-hour online licensure program designed for current teachers desiring to enhance their classroom teaching and leadership role. Candidates will demonstrate competency through performance and will participate in authentic field experiences that allow them to demonstrate proficiency in the Arkansas Teacher Leader Model Standards in K-12 settings. Unconditional admission into Graduate Studies and a current teaching license in any area of licensure for grades P-12 are required for acceptance into the program. The completion of program coursework and a current passing score on the Principles of Learning and Teaching exam (PLT) are required for recommendation for licensure. Successful completion of the Performance Assessment for Teacher Leaders (PATL) is required to add the LEAD Teacher designation.

**It is incumbent upon students from other states to determine the licensing requirements in their state.

A survey of superintendents, principals, teachers, curriculum and assessment coordinators confirmed multiple opportunities for teacher leadership within their schools / districts, as well as projected opportunities within the next 2-5 years. Respondents indicated that benefits to their schools / districts would be better instruction and a better understanding of the link between teachers and administrators, new knowledge and skills to uplift the team, keeping strong teachers in the classroom, and more research-based instruction.
