EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
During the 2020-2021 school year, FCS will review resources for textbook adoption for ELA in Grades K-2. The process began with a review of textbooks currently being used in the metro area and other large districts. Textbooks were then reviewed using EdReports and Louisiana Believes in order to ensure that the textbooks met the needs of Fulton County Schools in the areas of Pedagogy, Instructional Design, Content, Text Quality, and Assessment. Based on the review, the following publishers were invited to participate in the FCS Virtual Vendor Fair:
- Benchmark (Benchmark Workshop, 2020)
- Open Up Resources (EL, 2018)
- Houghton Mifflin Harcourt (Into Reading, 2020)
- Savvas (My View, 2020)
- McGraw-Hill (Wonders, 2019)
Fulton County Schools hosted two Vendor Fairs virtually for Reading/ELA resources on Wednesday, November 4th and Thursday, November 5th. Each elementary school was invited to send three (3) participants (Curriculum Support Teacher, Literacy Coach, K-2 teachers) to either of the fairs to help narrow the choices for a 2021-2022 adoption of resources aligned to the Georgia Standards of Excellence for ELA. Each vendor conducted presentations and provided resources for participants to review digitally. Participants completed a rubric to provide feedback.
Based on this feedback, we have selected the following publishers to be reviewed by all teachers and the public from November 30, 2020-January 22, 2021:
