About this ebook

Ten years ago, a family lost their son in the quiet village of Buckthorpe and he was never found.

Rosie Sharpe cried over her missing friend for weeks after.

But her little sister Heather knows that Rosie’s tears hide the truth.

Because the night Samuel was last seen, Heather watched her older sister climbing back through the window of their childhood bedroom. Her jacket torn, her eyes wild and her body trembling with fear.

Heather never told anyone what she saw, but secrets can’t stay buried forever…

A decade later, Rosie and Heather return to the home they grew up in when their mother falls ill. But when their house is ransacked and they receive a threatening note, it becomes clear that someone in the close-knit village doesn’t want them there.

When Heather finally confronts her sister about what really happened on the dark, rainy night Samuel vanished, Rosie’s version of the truth is more shocking than she could ever have imagined. But can she trust her sister? And who broke into their house that night? As the lies of the past begin to unravel, they have the power to put the lives of both women in terrible danger…

This twist-filled, page-turning psychological thriller from the million-copy-bestselling author of Silent Child will keep you hooked until the final, jaw-dropping pages. Perfect for fans of Behind Closed Doors and The Girl on the Train.

Loved, loved, loved this book!!! I have read several books by this author so I had high expectations for it and sure enough the author did not disappoint. I can’t say enough great things about this book. This book was about finding out the truth about what happened 10 years ago in the woods. Heather wanted to know what happened to the boy she cared so deeply for when she was a teenager. He vanished but where did he go? Was he still alive or was he dead? She does find the answers but is it truly the answers she’s looking for. Wow, what a great book this was!!! I haven’t come across a book this good in a long time. It took me on a journey to find answers but I wasn’t expecting the answers to be that shocking and horrific. I had no idea the roller coaster ride I was in for with this book. I just couldn’t get enough as each chapter went on. I needed answers and I was not go to sleep until I found them. Once I found my answers and the shock wore off, I was whole again and could finally go about living my life. You can say I really enjoyed this book so much and would scream it to the end of the earth if I could. Between the plot, characters and all the twists in this book it made it an easy and fast read. I would definitely recommend it and happily give it 5 Hearts❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Sarah has done it again! This book is a ripper! Gripped right from the start, I couldn’t race through the pages fast enough to see how this was all going unfold. It has everything that you want in a psychological thriller and more. Be prepared to be hooked and buckle up, as Sarah takes you on a wild ride that is full of twists and turns that don’t stop until the unexpected thrilling conclusion. Sarah has created a chilling and intricate, tale that is told from the perspective of two sisters Rosie and Heather. Alternating from each ones persepctive over different timelines, we see Heather wanting to get to the bottom of what really happened the night Samual disappeared, while Rosie tries to keep what she witnessed that night buried. But not all secrets can be kept buried and as the story progresses each one is unraveled leading to the most shocking of all jaw dropping revelations. The characters are very well developed and are brought to life through the pages perfectly. I really resonated with both Rosie and Heather and could feel both of their pain, not only over what happened to Samuel but also dealing with death of their mother and judgement of the small minded townsfolk. I really like how this story was not just a mystery but also about family and after having been estranged for so long, we get a really great insight in to how the events of the past have changed them into the women they have become in the present while they try and rebuild and repair the bond they once shared as sisters. This is a slow burn, but not in a way where you are wanting it to move along. It is done to build tension, which Sarah does really well here and she gives you just enough throughout to keep you wanting more and more and more!…It is emotive, pulls at the heartstrings, is captivating, engaging, thought provoking and completely addictive, which is all encapsulated through brilliant writing. This is a first class psychological thriller and a five star read that I can not recommend highly enough! Having only been introduced to Sarah’s work this year, this is only the second book I have read of hers, but she is one that is now on my radar and I am looking forward to many more books to come from her. Thank-you to NetGalley, Bookouture and Sarah A. Denzil for allowing me to read an advanced copy of The Liar’s Sister which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

4.75 out of 5 stars I want to thank Netgalley and Bookouture for allowing me to read an advanced copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review. This is the first time I have ever read a novel by Sarah A. Denzil and I really enjoyed it. Ten years ago a boy named Samuel Murray went missing after Heather's sister Rosie accused him of something terrible. Though Heather really didn't want to she couldn't help but believed that Rosie had something to do with Samuel's disappearance. She never really was able to forgive her sister for what she thinks Rosie has done. With their Mother in the hospital close to death Heather knows she has no choice but to contact her sister and ask her to return home to their tiny English village that seems to agree with Heather's hidden fear that Rosie killed Samuel.Heather and her Mother have not seen Rosie since she passed out behind the sofa at the girl's Father's wake. Rosie who is a recovering addict doesn't want to return home and face what changed her life all those years ago. She knows the village hates her and doesn't want her to ever return but her Mother and sister need her so she packs up and returns. A complex thriller wrapped around a family tragedy this novel will keep you reading late into the night. There are aspects of this story that you may very well figure out but there is a twist that will certainly surprise you and entertain you. For all the sweet small towns you find in cozy mysteries there is a darkness that some small towns carry with them. They share secrets, blame the most likely suspects and often have a pact mentality that can ruin a life. I loved the way this book tackled that. I also loved the relationship between the sisters. Both of the pushing and pulling each other. Desperate to share their truths but extremely scared to really open up.
